On January 12, according to a source with the Yulin Municipal Government, the project of "Development and Application of Key Technologies for Quality Control in Engine Manufacturing" and the project of "Technological Research on Cylinder Block Casting through Iron-based Sand Coating" declared by Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Machinery) have won the first Yulin Award for Progress in Science and Technology.
The project of "Development and Application of Key Technologies for Quality Control in Engine Manufacturing" targets the requirements for environmental management and environmental protection, focuses on key technologies for quality control in the development and manufacturing of energy-conserving and emission-reducing engines, and systematically researches on the key technologies for engine R & D, design, casting, processing and assembly, so as to form a set of quality control technologies for engine manufacturing. The project is aimed to extend engine reliability and life, reduce engines' mass loss rate and remove the technical bottleneck of engine quality control.
The project of "Technological Research on Cylinder Block Casting through Iron-based Sand Coating" is the first domestic project of producing cylinder blocks through iron-based sand coating, which has created a new field in cylinder block production. Produced cylinder blocks have advantages such as high size accuracy, outstanding mechanical performance, labor, material and equipment saving, and low production cost. The wall thickness of the D30 cylinder block produced with the technology is reduced by 15 percent and its weight is reduced by 5kg per unit from 131kg to 126kg, so as to reducing the production cost; the product yield exceeds 83.75 percent, up 22 percent compared to the original technology of sand casting; and the rejection rate of castings is reduced by 2 percent compared to the technology of automatic static pressure production.
According to the source, 29 innovation achievements were rewarded this time, of which 5 won the first award, 10 won the second award and 14 won the third award.
