Upon review and appraisal by the experts organized the Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it has recently been agreed that the air filter and fuel filter for diesel engines developed in the technological project of "R & D and Industrialization of Key Technologies of Diesel Engine Filtration Systems in Altitude High-dust Environment" implemented by Yuchai Huayuan Machinery (Yulin) Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Huayuan) are innovative, are superior to peers in technical and economic indicators and have accomplished the transformation of technological achievements, thus the 2014 Third Guangxi Award for Science & Technology Progress was granted to the project.

As a project in the research field of renovating traditional industries through high and new technologies, the project researched and developed filtration systems for diesel engines based on the characteristics of China's altitude high-dust environment. The developed three-level air filter for diesel engines can effectively filter 10μm+ dust with a filtration efficiency of over 99.6 percent, improve combustion quality, reduce problems such as early abrasion of engines and cylinder score, and extend engine lives; the developed fuel filter for diesel engines has the functions of automatic fuel heating and automatic oil pressure alarming, can resolve problems such as fuel viscosity increase, high flow resistance and fast ascension of the flow resistance curve in altitude low-temperature environment, and automatic alarming of oil pressure changes reminds users to maintain or replace filters. To date, the products have been applied in altitude areas such as Yunnan's Dali and Lijiang, Tibet, Qinghai's Golmud and Inner Mongolia, and produced good effects.
