On August 8, 3D Printing and Green Intelligent Manufacturing Forum took place at Yuchai's headquarters. Organized by the China Association of Machinery Manufacturing Technology (CAMMT), undertaken by Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., the forum was a major event of National Annual Conference on Processes of Electromechanical Enterprises.

News about 3D printing and green intelligent manufacturing has come forth endlessly in recent years. Some even value 3D printing as one of the important symbols of the third scientific and technological revolution. Focusing on 3D printing and green intelligent manufacturing, the forum invited experts including Dr. Liu Feng of the Advanced Manufacture Technology Center, China Academy of Machinery Science & Technology; Fang Jianru, deputy chief engineer of FAW Foundry Co., Ltd.; Yin Lei of Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd.; Liu Guoping, chief technologist of Shanghai Boiler Factory Co., Ltd. and Lyu Denghong of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. to share new manufacturing processes, technologies and materials.

Fang introduced the development of large, complex and high-life die casting molds from the development trend of die casting, the development of high-hardenability mold materials and the vacuum treatment of large molds. He said casting models will integrate with casting equipment to accomplish the real-time control of core pulling unit, ejection unit and opening unit of casting molds, thus making molds intelligent and boosting labor productivity and casting quality.

Under the title of "Possibility of Application of Advanced Fast Mold-free Manufacturing Technology in Diesel Engine Development", Lyu Denghong introduced the application of mold-free fast prototyping technology in Yuchai. She said, advanced mold-free manufacturing technology is a new flexible, digital, precise and green manufacturing method based on 3D CAD model drive. In terms of cost efficiency, compared to traditional casting technologies, the application of advanced mold-free fast prototyping technology saves development time by 50 percent to 80 percent and development cost by 30 percent to 50 percent.
