On August 15, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced the candidate list for the 1st China Quality Award. As a result, Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Machinery) made the list as one of the only two enterprises listed from Guangxi.

Yuchai Machinery filed an application for the 1st China Quality Award in April 2013. Based on the schedules of review and award presentation, according to the provisions of the Review Rules for China Quality Award, upon rigorous procedures such as formal examination, expert review of materials and voting by the review committee, 56 enterprises and 7 individuals made the candidate list, and Yuchai Machinery stood out of Guangxi's four applying enterprises.

The review rules required that entrants must be innovative organizations with leading quality, outstanding brands and prominent benefits as well as individuals who have made remarkable contributions to quality development, according to sources. As for the application conditions for organizations, the rules explicitly prescribed that the organizations which have won government quality awards at or above the provincial level in recent five years should be recommended preferentially. Yuchai Machinery launched lean manufacturing in 2011, has implemented the project of increasing quality by 100 percent and boosted its product quality since, and won the 1st Autonomous Region Chairman Quality Award in 2012, which all increased its chance of winning the award.
