On August 26, 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Engine Plant 2 of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. In this day, the plant's 1,332,826th engine and 25,826th new energy engine rolled offline at the vehicle engine workshop. General Manager Wu Qiwei, Party Secretary Ning Xingyong and Deputy General Manager Liang Qingyan of Yuchai Machinery, together with Chen Long, manager of Engine Plant 2, pressed down the launcher of the production line in delight and lifted the red silk covering the engine. Launching the engine is one of the major activities during the plant's 20th anniversary celebration. Special guests witnessed the special moment with over 100 workers.
The production line was launched
As one of the three machinery manufacturers of Yuchai Machinery, Engine Plant 2 founded in 1993 has gone through hardships and ordeals in the past two decades. Over the period, from an annual output of 50 units at first to 170,000 units today, from single 6112 series to eight series covering light, medium and heavy-duty engines, it has turned out over 1.33 million units cumulatively, thus becoming an epitome of rapid development of Yuchai Machinery. The results have been attributable to the painstaking efforts of the plant workers.
In the 1990s, the Ford production line introduced by the company from Brazil settled in Engine Plant 2. To thoroughly master the imported production line, workers of Engine Plant 2 kept overcoming technical difficulties. In this process, a lot of maintenance masters, tool masters and process maters emerged in the plant. Today, the plant workers have mastered the production line. "After tens of years of operation, it has become more efficient than it was at first" and has improved in indicators such as process rhythm, output and quality. It is the production line that has built Yuchai's leading role in China's coach field.

In 2000, Engine Plant 2 developed new products on the basis of technical digestion and trial-manufactured YC4E; in 2001, YC4G was trial-manufactured; in 2002, YC4E and YC4G were mass-manufactured and the plant's output topped 37,200 units. In 2009, the plant saw its second peak: with a monthly output of over 20,000 units and an annual output of over 170,000 units, the plant became the major force and pillar of Yuchai Machinery.
New Engine Plant 2 has eight models: YC6G, YC4E, YC4G, YC4D, YC4F, YC4W, YC4EG and YC4S, covering light, medium & heavy engines and single & dual-fuel engines. With products up to national V standard and matching trucks, coaches, passenger vehicles, engineering vehicles and cars, the plant has formed a product pattern of multiple types and wide series. In terms of product quality, key indicators such as R0, RI+II, Rf3, Rf6 and warranty loss ratio have been decreasing significantly every year. This year, the plant's R0 and warranty loss ratio were stable below 1,350PPM and 210PPM respectively, within the company's range of indicator control both.
Now the two new models--4EG and 4S Engine Plant 2 is bringing in will cover the medium & high-end market of medium & light-duty engines. Besides, new energy engine is also a key development orientation of the plant. The plant will make new progress in product structure, technical upgrading and manufacturing level to rapidly occupy the new energy engine market.
