On October 9, Dalian Jiaotong University (DJTU) held the award ceremony for the 1st Yuchai Scholarship at the auditorium of its Lvshun campus, 36 students with outstanding academic performance and from needy families won a grant of 4,000 yuan each, and 10 innovative projects won a scholarship of 2,000 yuan to 3,000 yuan each. The sum of the scholarship was 173,000 yuan. Li Xuewei, president of DJTU and Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group presented awards to the winners and award-winning projects.

In a speech, Guan Tianmin, vice president of DJTU, said, the establishment of Yuchai Scholarship shows Yuchai is actively performing its social responsibility. Yuchai supported DJTU's needy outstanding students in completing their studies, motivated them to study hard and develop in an all-round manner to become useful persons to the nation; rewarded outstanding students with the strong capability of technological innovation for carrying out technological innovation activities, and further trained their innovation spirit and practical ability to contribute to the development of the Chinese educational cause and the building of a technological power. Yuchai's move is of great significance.

Li Bing, a representative of the winners from Vehicle Engineering Class 111 of Traffic & Transportation School, DJTU, said, we are fortunate to get gratuitous support from Yuchai Group, and we are ought to be grateful, take Yuchai's scholarship and care as the wings for flying dreams, keep going and learn knowledge to repay the society.

According to sources, Yuchai has donated 500,000 yuan to DJTU in a lump sum as Yuchai Scholarship. The scholarship includes student grants and innovation scholarship, and DJTU Education Foundation will give out the scholarship in three years. So far, Yuchai has set up Yuchai Scholarship at institutions of higher education like Tianjin University, Harbin Engineering University and DJTU in support of the development of the nation's educational cause.
