2014 Guangxi Science and Technology Award Conference & 23rd Guangxi Science and Technology Week have recently taken place in Nanning. As a result, "Commercial Vehicle Hybrid System", a project contributed by Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Machinery), won the first prize of Guangxi for progress in science and technology.
The project was completed by Yuchai Machinery, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Shanghai High Energy Auto Electronic Co., Ltd. After nine years of concentrative R & D from R & D beginning in 2004, Yuchai commercial vehicle hybrid system has changed from common hybrid into plug-in hybrid through two technical upgrades.
Today when environmental protection and energy crisis have become increasingly worse, hybrid products have drawn growing attention from all walks of life and gained popularity among a wide range of customers. Compared to common hybrid engines, Yuchai hybrid engines are relatively uniform in terms of appearance and installation, and use batteries in different sizes based on individual demands; they have increased motor torque, high energy feedback efficiency and increased fuel saving ratio; when electric systems fail, they can switch to the "limp home" mode via a button.
Compared to traditional engines, Yuchai hybrid engines can save vehicle fuel by 30 percent. If a vehicle runs 100,000 kilometers per year, 12,000 liters of fuel can be saved. If 2,000 such engines are launched on the market annually, 63,600 tons of carbon dioxide can be reduced.
To date, Yuchai hybrid engines have gone into operation in cities like Guangzhou, Wuhan, Kunming, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Guiyang, Nanchang, Chongqing and Yulin.
