On September 29, the Party Committee and Peoples Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held Guangxi Conference on Scientific and Technological Innovation in Nanning, commending and rewarding entities and individuals that have achieved brilliant results in scientific and technological work in 2011. The R & D and popularization of YC6L diesel engine of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) exclusively won 2011 Guangxi special award for science and technology contribution, with a reward of 1 million yuan. This shows the full acknowledgement of Yuchais progress in science and technology by all walks of life, and is the encouraging result of the collaborative efforts of all scientific and technological workers of Yuchai. Shen Jie, chief engineer of Yuchai Group, attended the conference and received the honorary certificate and bonus from Guo Shengkun, Party secretary of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Guangxi special award for science and technology contribution is the highest science and technology award presented by the Peoples Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Any project that wins Guangxis first prize for progress in science and technology must have been operated for over three years, have truly boosted technological progress and social and economic development and have made remarkable achievements. After winning Guangxis first prize in science and technology in 2007, YC6L diesel engine series has achieved major breakthrough in key technologies of energy conservation and emission reduction. The first National IV, National V and Euro VI sample engines were the model.

According to sources, Yuchai has established solid relations with the vast majority of domestic automakers in terms of YC6L diesel engine matching, and has developed engines matching 107 vehicle models. YC6L became the prioritized homemade engine for the Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo and Guangzhou Asian Games. YC6L has operated steadily and reliably, shown outstanding quality, boosted the national confidence of Chinas automotive engine industry and the confidence in implementing national environmental protection policies.

According to Yan Ping, chairman of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd., Yuchai sold 815,000 units of YC6L and other models based on YC6Ls core technology from 2008 to 2010, with sales revenues of over 30 billion yuan, a tax of over 900 million yuan paid and a profit of over 2.9 billion yuan. To date, Yuchai has developed over 50 direct suppliers in Guangxi. In recent three years, Yuchai has purchased some 8.5 billion yuan worth of parts in Guangxi, with a purchase proportion of some 36.1 percent, thus promoting the technical progress of parts suppliers in Guangxi and the rest of the country, and creating jobs for many people in Guangxi.
