Xing Ming, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Internal Custom Engine Industry Association (CICEIA), was invited to the launch conference and delivered a speech. Among over 200 attendees were Yuchais leaders including Chairman Yan Ping, General Manager Wu Qiwei and Chief Engineer Lin Zhiqiang, technical staff of Yuchai R & D center, as well as representatives of the Planning Department and Applied Development Department of Yuchai and Yuchai Sales Co., Ltd. Lin Zhiqiang presided over the conference.

Energy conservation and environmental protection are two major problems pressing for solution in the auto industry, and engines play a critical role as auto hearts. With the implementation of the National V gas engine emission regulations and National IV diesel engine regulations next year, and the practice of overload and limit regulation and fuel duty, the auto industry and the engine industry will face great challenges. As Chinas largest internal combustion engine manufacturing base, Yuchai takes invigorating the national industry and providing leading and applicable engines to the public as its due social responsibility and obligation, and persistently strengthens the building of the capacity for independent innovation. With market as orientation, based on the outstanding performance of existing products, Yuchai has developed a series of energy-conserving and environment-friendly products from such aspects as R & D and design, lean manufacturing and quality assurance, thus injecting strong endogenous power into its development and boosting its comprehensive strength and core competitiveness.

At the launch conference, Lin first introduced the 12 new models and their R & D. Yuchai always takes high efficiency and professionalism as the orientation of its products and brand, and is committed to developing and manufacturing energy-conserving and environment-friendly products. To meet the requirements of the national emission regulations, since seven years ago, Yuchai has intensified efforts to continuously develop and launch energy-conserving National IV diesel engines and National V gas engines targeting market segments. The 12 engines to be launched today are Yuchais key new products for 2013. Of these engines, seven gas engines--YC4DN-50, YC4GN-50, YC6JN-50, YC6GN-50, YC6LN-50, YC6MKN-50 and YC6KN-50 have been up to National V emission standards, use advanced technologies of lean combustion and electronically-controlled closed loop, and cover power ranging from 120hp to 440hp; the five National IV diesel engines include new-platform product YC4s, products upgraded on the original platform like YC4EG and YC6A-45, as well as truck-specific products YC6J-46 and YC6A-46. All these products to be launched on the market were developed through the YCEDP process after years efforts. These new products have further ensured the market competitiveness of Yuchai engines and will offer the public leading and applicable engines.

Xing Ming attended and addressed the launch conference. He first extended warm congratulations on the launch of Yuchais new products for 2013 on behalf of CICEIA. The energy consumption in the internal combustion engine industry accounts for 59.27 percent of Chinas annual total oil consumption in 2011, equivalent to the annual total amount of imported oil. The internal combustion engine industry is an energy-consuming industry, bringing about huger potential for energy conservation and emission reduction. Energy conservation and emission reduction are the inevitable trends of the development of the modern internal combustion engine industry. If internal combustion engine manufacturers can continuously present more energy-conserving and environment-friendly new technologies and products, they will display their tremendous research strength and seize the initiative at future market competition at a higher level.

Xing Ming acclaimed Yuchai as a model and leading enterprise in Chinas internal combustion engine industry, as well as Chinas first power brand. Yuchai has always followed national industrial policies, seized the inexorable trend of energy conservation and emission reduction, persisted in innovation development and independent R & D, challenged a series of technical problems, explored a high-efficiency road of innovation, and constantly achieved new success during developing green, environment-friendly and low-emission engines, Xing said. The launch of five National IV diesel engines and seven National V gas engines today marks Yuchais new solid step on the road of energy conservation and emission reduction, he added.

Xing hoped Yuchai would take the launch as a new starting point, step up efforts to narrow its gap with foreign peers, focus on the independent R & D of engines, and strive to present more advanced green engines that consume less energy and have higher emission performance, in a bid to make greater contributions to Chinas low-carbon economy, energy conservation and emission reduction.

Wu Qiwei spoke on behalf of Yuchai. Despite the severe market situation this year, Yuchai has maintained strong momentum and will continue enjoying a safe lead in annual engine sales. And its market share has risen by 3 percent from 2011.

Referring to the implementation of the National V gas engine emission regulations and the National IV diesel engine emission regulations next year, Wu thought the implementation of the new emission regulations will create new opportunities and challenges for commercial vehicle manufacturers. In order to maintain its lead in the industry and enhance the market vitality of products, Yuchai should persistently strengthen the building of the capacity for independent innovation, follow national regulations on energy conservation and energy conservation, base products on market demands, and build an array of superior products adapted to the market from such aspects as product R & D and design and quality assurance, on the basis of inheriting the outstanding performance of Yuchai products. To this end, Yuchai has developed a chain of energy-conserving and low-emission models to inject strong endogenous power into its development and boost its comprehensive strength and core competitiveness.

The National V gas engines and National IV diesel engines launched today are all fine and competitive products developed by Yuchai after years technical accumulation. Yuchai will take the optimal opportunity of the comprehensive switch to National V gas engines and National IV diesel engines to take the initiative in planning, announcement, development, market launch and increment, and to take the lead in accomplishing restorative growth in the commercial vehicle industry, Wu added with full confidence.

At the end of the launch conference, Yuchais leaders including Xing Ming, Yan Ping and Wu Qiwei unveiled the 12 new products.

Before the launch conference, General Manager Wu Qiwei, Deputy General Manager Zhong Yuwei, Chief Engineer Lin Zhiqiang and Deputy Chief Engineer Feng Jing of Yuchai gave interviews to 17 media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, Science and Technology Daily, China Industry News, China Communications News, Machinery & Electronics Business, Business Automobile Weekly, cvworld.cn, cnbuses.com, eotruck.com, Guangxi Daily and GXTV.
