The NPC and CPPCC annual sessions have opened again. While all were paying attention to the deputies and members on camera, a group of unknown people was working silently for the sessions' success.

As China's largest diesel engine manufacturer, Yuchai has a lot of engines on board various buses serving the NPC and CPPCC annual sessions. To ensure that Yuchai engines serve the sessions in better conditions, Yuchai will send the most capable engineers which are exactly among those behind the sessions together with Yuchai engines.

Yuchai helps Shouqi Group serve the NPC and CPPCC annual sessions again

The reporter has recently made a call to Zeng Gong, a service manager with Yuchai Beijing Office, hearing a hoarse voice from the other end of the telephone. He was busy with session support but granted an interview.

Work out a plan to ensure the sessions' success

Zeng told the reporter session support is a key annual task of Yuchai Beijing Office. He was busy preparing for the sessions from the beginning of the year. "We had begun our elaborate preparations for the sessions' success right before the Spring Festival," he said.

"First, we worked out a support plan and selected seasoned engineers," Zeng said, adding that Yuchai attached great importance to session support, established a technical support leadership group led by the directors of the electronic control department and CNG department of Yuchai R & D Center behind the lines, and a frontline support group led by Liu Ming, director of Yuchai Beijing Office.

Second, Yuchai Beijing Office held a technical coordination meeting on 2014 session support with Shouqi Group and Beijing Public Transport Group to study support details.

"Manpower and parts are most important to support. Come what may, manpower and materials should appear on the scene at the earliest possible time," Zeng said.

According to sources, Yuchai sent five staff members four after-sales engineers and a parts engineer to support the sessions in combination with the five engineers temporarily transferred by Yuchai Beijing Office from Yuchai service stations. "There were ten hotels for the deputies and members during the sessions, and every engineer was stationed at a hotel checking if engines were problematic before vehicles departed every day and checking if engines had potential faults after vehicles returned at night," Zeng introduced.

However, not every engineer was able to participate in session support. Zeng said, every engineer and after-sales service staff involved in session support was skilled and most have related working experience.

Before the opening of the sessions, Yuchai also checked and maintained every Yuchai-powered vehicle in Beijing, especially buses operating on lines near the Tiananmen Square to ensure that every vehicle met the sessions in best conditions, Zeng said, adding, "Hundreds of Yuchai-powered buses operated on lines near the Tiananmen Square, and nearly half of them are powered by gas engines."

The service support groups worked out emergency plans in case of emergencies during the sessions, and ensured smooth service support during the sessions by preparing parts early and sending mobile squads to follow up deputies' travel routes in full course.

Yuchai is proud that over 90 percent of buses for the sessions are powered by Yuchai.

"There were a total of 136 7m+ tour buses serving the sessions, of which 125 are powered by Yuchai, accounting for over 90 percent," Zeng told the reporter proudly, adding, "Most are powered by Yuchai YC6L engines."

According to sources, Yuchai YC6L engine is China's first four-valve commercial vehicle diesel engine as well as the first engine passing the certifications of TUV and the State Environmental Protection Administration. "Four-valve technology boosts air intake, makes combustion fuller and emission more consistent, and effectively reduces the noise of air intake and exhaust," said a technologist of Yuchai when introducing the engine to the reporter.

A salesperson of Yuchai said, YC6L engine has enjoyed wide popularity over the decade since its launch. "With quality assured, many YC6L engines have operated over 1 million kilometers and their cylinder covers have not bee opened due to maintenance," he added.

At last, Zeng told the reporter, the engine has also served many major events like the Beijing Olympic Games and the NPC and CPPCC annual sessions. Serving the sessions once again this year, it is a meritorious veteran ensuring the sessions' success though few know it.
