Oceangoing fishing vessel powered by Yuchai's 1st electronically-controlled marine engine YC6TD succeeds in trial operation

On February 28, an oceangoing fishing vessel powered by two YC6TD electronically-controlled diesel engines succeeded in trial operation in Beihai, Guangxi, marking a firm step of Yuchai in the industrialization of Yuchai's electronically-controlled diesel engines.

Shen Jie (3rd L) conducted a site review with the technical team aboard

YC6TD marine engine is the first electronically-controlled engine specific to fishing vessels and freighters. The fuel system features an electronically-controlled inline pump with high injection pressure, controls injection timing and injection quantity flexibly, and accomplishes high torque at low speed by optimizing injection MAP. With a rated power and speed of 441kW and 1,500rpm respectively, the engine is up to IMO stage 2 emission standards and has the potential for upgrading to stage 3 standards.

With a molded length of 32 meters, a molded breadth of 6.4 meters, a molded depth of 3.5 meters and a draft of 2.1 meters, the oceangoing fishing vessel powered by YC6TD marine engine operates in the South China Sea. After carrying YC6TD electronically-controlled diesel engine, the vessel performed strongly in the trial operation. The vessel's maximum speed was more than 9 knots but soared by over 30 percent to 12.5 knots after carrying YC6TD marine engine. The strong power undoubtedly provides reliable power assurance for quick evacuation in case of emergencies in the South China Sea. Some customers coming at the news showed strong interest in YC6TD marine engine, too.

According to sources, to ensure the successful matching and trial operation of YC6TD marine engine, Shen Jie, chief engineer of Yuchai Group, led a team of experts at performance, electronic control, machinery, matching and development for a field review of representatives and distributors of manufacturers of key parts like oil pump, supercharger and instrument aboard. Also, the engineering developers introduced the notes for ECU protection and use to the ship owner in detail.
