On April 19, the roar of a generating set powered by YC6TD engine came endlessly from a construction site in Shiqu County, Sichuan Province, announcing that YC6TD has successfully powered a plateau generating set for the first time.

Generating set commissioning

Located at the junction of Sichuan, Qinghai and Tibet on the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau, with an average altitude of 4,000 meters, Shiqu is a high-altitude and high-cold area with an oxygen content one third to one half lower than the oxygen content at the sea level. To ensure powering success, in association with Yuchai R & D Center, the Marine Department of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., conducted elaborate planning and sent engineers and service staff to the place where the customer is located. The team members overcame difficulties such as altitude stress and transportation inconvenience to finish work such as starting test, performance calibration and commissioning, and load test, and eventually delivered the engine to the customer for normal use.

The YC6TD-powered generating set performed strongly in operation with stable power, small smoke intensity and low fuel consumption. The customer was satisfied with the commissioning result.
