Shen Jie wins "Guangxi May 1 Labor Medal"

On April 29, according to a source from the model worker symposium celebrating International Labor Day held by the Yulin Federation of Trade Unions, Shen Jie, chief engineer of Yuchai Group, won the "Guangxi May 1 Labor Medal".

Since joining Yuchai in February 1982, Shen has been engaged in diesel engine design, manufacturing and experimental research. Over the past three decades, he concentrated on diesel engine technology development and research with high devotion and the attitude of perfection, and led the independent development of over 80 diesel engine models. To promote the sustainable development of Yuchai, he has established diesel engine platforms covering fields such as heavy-duty vehicles, medium-duty vehicles, light-duty vehicles, passenger vehicles, mini vehicles, cars, construction machinery, agricultural machinery and ships, and has successfully grasped technical routes such as electronic control systems of YC6L national III products, and application of SCR and advanced four-valve technology of national IV, national V and Euro VI products, thus laying the groundwork for Yuchai to take the lead in mass-manufacturing national III, national IV and national V diesel engines in the domestic market and successfully develop Euro VI prototypes. Shen's R & D in fields such as four-valve diesel engine, horizontal diesel engine, car diesel engine and two-stage turbocharged diesel engine has filled domestic gaps. Also, he has undertaken Guangxi's two key research projects and the country's four key research projects in the ninth and tenth five-year periods, and passed appraisal.

As a part-time professor and master tutor of Guangxi University, Shen has published over 40 scientific papers on domestic and overseas professional academic meetings and magazines, and instructed 16 graduate students. At the postdoctoral research workstation, he has cultivated five post doctors and cultivated a lot of technical experts at diesel engine R & D for the country and Yuchai.

The projects Shen led and participated in have won a national second prize for progress in science and technology, a provincial (ministerial) first prize, six provincial (ministerial) second prizes and three provincial (ministerial) third prizes for progress in science and technology, three first provincial (ministerial) prizes for outstanding achievements in new products, and 26 national patents including three patents for invention. Also, he was among "Guangxi's second group of Bagui scholars" in 2013.
