On April 30, the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government held the International Labor Day & Model Worker Award Conference. Deng Yuanyang of Xiamen Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. was honored as "Xiamen's model worker".

Deng Yuanyang joined Xiamen Yuchai in April 2008, now works as head of the equipment repair & maintenance team of the production operation department in charge of the daily repair and maintenance of equipment. Despite the weak repair and maintenance force of Xiamen Yuchai in its early days, Deng actively trained repair and training talents based on a dozen years' experience and practiced the mentoring system in the team. Over the six years, Deng has taken an active part in the company's minor reforms and made rational suggestions. Installing electrically operated valves on pressure-stabilizing tanks of test benches to automatically control pipe water flow according to tanks' water levels can save 48 kilowatts-hour per hour, reduce energy consumption and save cost by over 100,000 yuan annually; improving the operating procedures of crankshaft cleaners can save electricity charge by nearly 50,000 yuan annually and save takt time by 49 seconds, thus increasing production efficiency and enhancing cleaning effect.

Deng has been honored as an "advanced worker of the year" by the company for many times, the repair and maintenance team led by him was honored as a "pioneering team" by the Xiamen Federation of Trade Unions in 2012, and he personally won Xiamen's "Labor Medal" in 2011.
