Good news has recently come from Sansha, an emerging city at the southernmost end of China that Yuchai Heavy Industry Company Limited (YHI) has overcome its opponents from home and abroad to win the first excavator order from the Sansha Municipal People's Government.

Sansha which just turned one year old has entered a development period of municipal infrastructure construction with growing demand for construction machinery. Being distant from the mainland, Sansha is not easy to access with only one passenger-cargo liner bound for Sansha weekly, the Sansha Municipal People's Government is critical of excavator quality and service, requiring that equipment must be highly resistant to corrosion and reliable in terms of quality and that the manufacturer and its service stations must have strong training and service capabilities. After sending staff to conduct field investigations and visit excavator customers on construction fields, the government became satisfied with YHI's engine performance and Yuchai's service level. Combined with Yuchai's complete service network and parts reserves in Hainan, the Sansha Municipal People's Government eventually chose YHI, thus fulfilling the dream of Yuchai excavator to become the first constructor of "Sansha".
