On September 25, Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. held 2013 Interim Marine Engine Marketing Work Meeting & Q4 Rally Meeting. Corporate leaders including Yan Ping, Wu Qiwei, Zhong Yuwei and Wang Limin discussed the major development strategy with Yuchai's marine engine distributors. The meeting analyzed and summarized the experience from results in the marine engine market in the first eight months, defined the development direction and objective of Yuchai's marine engine sector in the coming three years, and set a target of selling 100,000 marine engines annually by 2016.
At the meeting, Yan proposed the plan for the future development of Yuchai's marine engine sector, setting the target of "selling 100,000 units and 10,000 units of 10L+ engines annually in three years". He hoped that all partners would have full confidence in Yuchai, increase investment, stay in solidarity and offer advice and suggestions to shore up Yuchai's marine engine market and achieve win-win.
Yan said, marine engine is one of Yuchai's most important sectors in the future. Yuchai has made great strides in this sector since 2005 with its market share soaring, but it still has a long way to go in terms of brand recognition. In recent years, Yuchai has taken the development of the sector as a major strategy and made great efforts in the management mode, marketing mode and R & D planning of marine engine business. In terms of production capacity building, Yuchai's large-horsepower marine engine production base is installing equipment and is expected to go into operation at the end of this year.
Yan said, Yuchai attaches great importance to the development of the marine engine sector and will further seek to gain the say in the industry and the initiative in the market. Next, Yuchai will integrate resources, step up efforts in financial investment, product R & D and resource support, significantly reform the marketing and management modes of the sector, and straighten out the management system, thus achieving the target.
The overall sales of the marine engine industry dropped 21 percent in the first eight months, but Yuchai's marine engine sales still registered positive year-on-year growth on the basis of growing for consecutive years, thus further optimizing its product structure. Besides, Yuchai has intensified major terminal customer development to enhance its industrial influence. At the meeting, Tang Zuoxing, general manager of the Marine Engine Department, commented on all distributors' performance in the first eight months, hoping to take the rally meeting to make up deficiencies in the first half to shore up the marine engine sector. Based on the market prediction for the rest of the year, he made arrangements for Yuchai's marine engine marketing in the fourth quarter. Also, the meeting fixed the target for the rest of the year.
Wu Qiwei raised four requirements for marine engine R & D and sales: first, efforts should be made to gradually perfect the product spectrum without any power vacancy and integrate engine types to enrich products; second, efforts should be made to perfect the marketing service network system to ensure the smooth implementation of the overall plan; third, efforts should be made to compete with peers, set benchmarks for different types of products, develop competitive products in reference with these benchmarks, and work efficiently and precisely on product R & D; fourth, efforts should be made to intensify large-horsepower product R & D and pool strengths to meet market competition next year, and try to won several incremental markets. Also, he required that the generating engine sector should get a larger share in the high-end market.
During the meeting, the distributors discussed issues such as marine engine market communication and development in the coming three years.
