Document No. 40 (2013) of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has recently announced the evaluation results of "national corporate technical centers" in 2013. As a result, Yuchai National Corporate Technical Center ranked 20th with a total score of 91.5 points, ranking 20th among 887 national corporate technical centers in the country, up 16 places from 2011, thus continuing its lead in the engine industry and being honored as an "outstanding national corporate technical center".
According to the Measures for Administration of National Corporate Technical Centers, national corporate technical centers were originally evaluated on an annual basis but on a biennial basis from 2007. NDRC entrusts intermediary agencies to evaluate systems and mechanisms, strength and capabilities, output and performance, research input, research capacity, innovative talent team building and innovation capacity building of corporate technical centers, thus working out overall rankings of corporate technical centers. This is not only comprehensive evaluation of enterprises' strength in technical innovation, but also an important indicator of measuring enterprises' independent innovation capacity and core competitiveness. In 2013, 887 domestic enterprises entered for the evaluation, up 158 from 2011 (729). A total of 45 corporate technical centers were rated as outstanding ones and Yuchai Corporate Technical Center made the list for the first time, showing that Yuchai is constantly improving its independent innovation capacity and core competitiveness during stepping up strategic development and has achieved brilliant results in technical leadership in the industry.
Over the two decades, national corporate technical centers have become important platforms for corporate innovation and development, and brought together domestic leading enterprises in various industries. Among the country's third group of corporate technical centers, Yuchai Corporate Technical Center was accredited in August 1995, has kept ahead in the industry in previous evaluations and won the "Achievement Award for National Technical Center" from five state ministries and commissions like NDRC and the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2009. Yuchai was also among the country's first group of model enterprises for technical innovation accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and its project of "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Energy-conserving and Environment-friendly Engines" won the second national prize for progress in science and technology.
An enterprise's quintessence of remaining invincible is "innovation": innovation in product technology, management and talent training mode. Yuchai has sounded the bugle of "second startup" and embarked upon lean R & D. With the core concept of "Green Development & Harmony Win-win" and with the duty of "satisfying public demands for engines with outstanding and leading products", Yuchai will overcome difficulties in R & D and keep developing and innovating to lead the technical progress of the industry.
