On the morning of May 26, the release conference for Chinas industrial economic CSR reports was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Comprehensive Evaluation Report on Chinas Industrial Economic CSR Reports in 2012, the Manual of the Chinese Industrial Association for Implementation of the CSR Guide, the Manual for Implementation of Chinas Industrial CSR Guide and the Selection of CSR Practice Cases in 2012 were released. 74 enterprises, including Yuchai Group, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China and FAW Group Corporation released annual CSR reports.

Against the backdrop of Yuchais 60th anniversary celebration, with a perfect combination of precise text and lively photos, it demonstrates Yuchais outstanding performance in fulfilling corporate social responsibility in 2011 from multiple perspectives and in an all-round manner, sincerely informs interested parties of details of the organic integration of Yuchais implementation of the concept of green manufacturing, active performance of social responsibility with corporate business management, and plays a non-negligible role in promoting Yuchais healthy and sustainable development. At the conference, Li Yizhong, vice chairman of the Economic Committee of the CPPCC Central Committee and president of the CFIE, delivered an important speech entitled Making Concerted Efforts on Development and Innovation to Press Ahead with Industrial CSR Construction?. He said, industry is the pillar of the national economy, industrial value added accounts for 40 percent of the GDP, and industrial enterprises? social responsibility performance is of far-reaching significance to stabilizing growth, transforming the mode, adjusting the structure, benefiting the peoples livelihood, and promoting the all-round, coordinated and sustainable development of Chinas economy and society. Industrial transformation and upgrading has advanced the accelerated development of corporate social responsibility. As new content of corporate management, corporate social responsibility has been recognized and accepted by a growing number of enterprises, which helps to continuously raise the level of corporate management, and facilitates key tasks including corporate credit system building, energy conservation and emission reduction advancement, backwardness capacity elimination, safe production, harmony of labor-management relations, product quality improvement and technical innovation.

As enterprises differ in the level of social responsibility recognition and practice, it takes some time to blend corporate social responsibility into daily operations. Li stressed, internationally, corporate social responsibility has been viewed as an important foundation and effective channel for sustainable development. Domestically, the central government has frequently stressed that a social credit system should be established. Enterprises face challenges and opportunities in the twelfth five-year? period, raising new requirements for performance of corporate social responsibility. In a speech, Fu Jianhua, deputy director-general of the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) and director-general of the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety (SACMS) firmly noted there are still phenomena of valuing production above safety in many industries in China, and the work foundation of safe production is week. He stressed unremitting efforts should be made on safety development as one of major corporate social responsibilities.

Yan Xiaofeng, deputy secretary-general of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council 锛圫ASAC锛夛紝 made four proposals on advancement of corporate social responsibility by industrial associations: they should continue perfecting the construction of social responsibility information exchange platforms, should give play to their role in providing services and giving guidance on the work of corporate social responsibility, should formulate industrial standards for corporate social responsibility and should practically perform their own social responsibilities.

Liu Meng, chief delegate of the UN Global Compact in China, said the UN Global Compact will cement cooperation with the Chinese government, industrial associations and Chinese enterprises, better assist Chinese enterprises in going out responsibly to shape their favorable image as international corporate citizens, boost inclusive growth and sustainable development, and benefit the Chinese people and the people of the world.

As a guest for international exchange, Michel Doucin, ambassador responsible for bioethics and corporate social responsibility, French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, introduced French enterprises? successful experience in social responsibility performance with cases of Frances social endowment fund, unit energy consumption and labor accidents. He suggested relevant departments should popularize the successful experience in social responsibility performance in a legal form, and apply it to both listed enterprises and other enterprises.

According to sources, the release conference was organized by the CFIE under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission, the MIIT, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Commerce, the SASAC, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and the SAWS. A total of 898 Chinese enterprises released CSR reports in 2011, up 18 percent year on year, including 639 industrial enterprises.
