After attending the opening ceremony of the 9th Small and Medium Enterprises Expo (Yulin China) (SME Expo), Tongsing Thammavong, prime minister of Laos, visited Yuchai. Shi Shenglong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Han Yuanli, mayor of Yulin visited Yuchai in company with Tongsing. President Gu Tangsheng and Deputy Party Secretary Guo Deming of Yuchai Group warmly received the visitors.

During the visit, Gu introduced Yuchais development to the Lao government delegation. Tongsing showed strong interest in Yuchais products including gas engine and hybrid engine, inquiring into their advantages and market development in Laos.

With the rapid rise of Yuchais overseas market, Yuchais annual engine exports have topped 30,000 units and the quantity of Yuchai engines possessed in overseas markets have exceeded 150,000 units, including 61,000 units in the ASEAN market alone. Currently, the quantity of Yuchai engines possessed in Laos is over 130 units, including over 40 this year, which entered Laos with DFLZ trucks and King Long buses. In recent years, Laos has paid close attention to Yuchai. In October 2008, Bounnhang Vorachit, vice president of Laos, headed a Lao government delegation to visit Yuchai. Four years later, Tongsing Thammavong, prime minister of Laos, headed another to visit Yuchai. This will play a positive role in promoting the further development of the Lao market by Yuchai.
