Recently, good news has come from a high titanium slag smeltery that the YC08-8 and YC13-8 excavators of Yuchai Heavy Industry Company Limited (YHI) have been used in the plants smelting operations, gaining high praise from the customer.
The process of high titanium slag smelting includes 10 steps: flaring, botting, stoking, charging, electrode discharge, smelting, period of resistance heat, period of melting restoration, period of refined restoration and tapping. Stoking is stamping all incrusted burden with a chisel to prevent hanging, pushing burden into the core for easy melting, and leveling burden with a rake; during tapping, the worker pokes along the lower edge of the furnace with a chisel. In the traditional process, both steps need workers to stamp or poke burden with a chisel or by striking the chisel with a hammer. The drawback of manual operations is obviously. They are time-consuming, labor-consuming and inefficient, and produced dust and sparks are prone to harming workers.
After being retrofitted with chisel and breaking hammer and put to use in a high titanium slag smeltery in Zhangjiakou, YC08-8 and YC13-8 excavators have fully replaced labor in the two steps above. In such operations, the small size, light weight and operability of YC08-8 and YC13-8 are prominent, and they can absolutely replace seven or eight workers.
