"A YC6M285L-D20 generating set on Yongxing Island cannot start, we need immediate help," Yang Lizhu, service manager of Hainan Office of Yuchai Sales Co., Ltd., got a call for help from Sansha at 7:10 AM February 14.

All civil and military facilities (radar, airport, etc.) on Yongxing Island, Sansha City are powered by generating sets. In view of the area's particularity, Director Wu Li and Manager Yang Lizhu of Hainan Office moved immediately. They found out the details of the failure so that they could prepare related parts as they contacted for a ship.

Yongxing Island is distant from the continent, only a mixed carrier arrives at the island per week, and shipping operation will be suspended in severe weather. All but government staff must go through complicated formalities if they need to access the island. Learning that only a mixed carrier will leave for the island in five days (on February 19) that week, Yuchai's service staff was anxious. After extensive inquiries, the office heard that a freighter carrying building materials would head from Qionghai to the island and decided to send service staff including Li Yonggao, Lin Jiagan and Mai Huayong to the island onboard the freighter.

As power failure meant construction suspension, Yuchai's service staff was anxious to address the customer's burning need. After a 28 hours' bumpy ride in waves, they finally reached Yongxing Island. After disembarking, the service staff immediately hurried to the construction site without a lunch. In the scorching sun, Lin Jiagan quickly found the problem of the generating set: the fuel injection pump broke down. After pump replacement and overall maintenance, the failure was eliminated and the generating set could start again. Afterwards, the service staff explained the causes of the failure in detail, instructed the customer in machine maintenance and stressed the importance of use of "three filters" and time of replacement.

Seeing the generating set work normally again, Wang Haixing, the person in charge of the construction site, was satisfied with Yuchai's service. He said in excitement, "Yuchai is the first to serve Yongxing Island and Yuchai's service make us feel assured! I have three YC6M units in operation and have decided to purchase two more. We will use Yuchai machines only in the future!"

When the service staff was leaving, the two YC6M units purchased additionally by the customer were being loaded in Sanya and would be shipped to Yongxing Island.
