On August 7 and 8, the 9th National Conference on Cast Iron organized by the China Association of Machinery Manufacturing Technology and the Cast Iron and Smelting Committee of the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and organized by entities including Yuchai was held in Yulin. As a great event in China's foundry academic and business circles, the conference attracted over 200 attendees from over 140 entities in the foundry industry and related industries at home and abroad. Yuchai released six reports as the entity releasing the greatest number of academic reports.
The conference focused on the theme of "increasing the quality and stability of cast iron and expanding the application scope of cast iron". At the conference, Li Kerui, director of the Foundry Engineering Center of the Zhengzhou Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering and chairman of the Cast Iron and Smelting Committee of the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, delivered an opening speech. China's cast iron industry has developed steadily in recent four years so as to further narrow the gap from advanced world standards, enjoys overwhelming competitive edge in international competition and is in a critical period of growing from big to strong, he said. The conference brought together the latest research and production results in recent years, and will play a positive role in increasing the stability and consistency of Chinese iron castings through presentation and exchange. In the ensuing academic presentation, he spoke highly of Yuchai's technical innovation in the application of high-strength and high-life ductile iron on engine parts, and acclaimed the enterprises represented by Yuchai for their great efforts in the development of the foundry cause.
Liang Qingyan, vice general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., warmly welcomed the experts, professors and leaders in the foundry industry on behalf of the host. With an annual output of 180,000 tons of castings, Yuchai is China's largest internal combustion engine manufacturing base and Asia's largest casting manufacturing base. With internationally advanced foundry production lines, outstanding talents and sophisticated technologies, Yuchai has made persistent innovation in technologies and processes. Newly developed technologies such as digital model-free manufacturing have achieved breakthroughs in traditional production processes, effectively shortened development cycle and reduced cost and, made due contributions to improving the technical level of foundry.
According to sources, at the conference, Yuchai's technologists, experts from domestic research institutions such as Zhengzhou Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Xi'an University of Technology, as well as industrial experts from the USA and Sweden released academic papers and demonstrated foundry achievements. Apart from exchanges on 36 papers, the attendees also visited Yuchai's workshops.
