On December 9, the release ceremony and workshop for Essay of Yuchai was held in Nanning. This is Guangxis first literary work featuring an enterprise created by a host of writers. The release of the new book drew close attention from the literary and art circles of Guangxi.
Published by Volumes Publishing Company, with a total of 130,000 words, Essays of Yuchai is an elaborately bound collection of works based on the materials collected by nearly 30 writers from Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. under the organization of Guangxi Writers Association (GWA). Yuchai is Chinas largest internal combustion engine manufacturing base and small and medium-sized construction machinery manufacturing and export base with a long history of six decades, which has made great strides in recent years. In the eleventh five-year period, Yuchais annual operating revenues soared from RMB 12 billion to RMB 37 billion, and thus being regarded as a model for Chinese national enterprises by public opinions. There are more than 1,000 reports on Yuchai, but Essays of Yuchai is the first literary work that reflects Yuchais development road. The writers, from different perspectives, fully and emotionally displayed Yuchais corporate traits, covered Yuchais development, work and life of Yuchais staff and thoughts on Yuchais development, and demonstrated the new image of a substantial modern large-sized enterprise to readers.
Wei Shoude, Party secretary and vice president of Guangxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles, spoke highly of the book, considering it as a result of going to the grass-roots level and changing the literary style of workers and a work close to the enterprise, and thinking it displays the spiritual pursuit and vigor of the enterprise. He suggested that GWA should organize more workers to go to the grass-roots level and factories, mines and enterprises to eulogize the people and socialist economic construction with pens.
Yan presided over the workshop, with nearly 30 attendees including Guo Deming, deputy Party secretary of Yuchai Group; Li Chunmei, director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Yuchai Group; Chen Xuepu, professor of the Party School of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of CPC; writers Peng Xiong, Pan Rongcai and Pan Dalin; and journalist Luo Han.
