On August 21, Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. held a business backbone representative symposium. 13 young representatives from branches and subsidiaries of Yuchai Machinery spoke at the symposium, voicing their ideas for personal career planning, corporate management mode and future development strategy, and offering advice and suggestions on corporate development. Present were Chairman Yan Ping, General Manager Wu Qiwei, Party Secretary Ning Xingyong, Chief Economic Manager Wang Wei and Deputy Party Secretary Ye Bin of Yuchai Machinery.

Guided and encouraged by Yan, the young representatives present voiced their ideas in succession. Yao Huaxiong from the Technology Section of Engine Plant 1 spoke first. The grade-based salary system is practiced successfully at the R & D department and needs to be stepped up in the production system.
Referring to the company's long-term development, Yao also offered his opinion. He thought Yuchai's R & D staff lacks first-line working experience and many of them are new graduates. From the perspective of talent training and R & D team consolidating, Yao suggested training more graduates on the first line and having experienced ones take up R & D, which is more effective than directly training graduates at Yuchai R & D Center.

Speaking of his personal career plan, Kou Chuanfu from the Laboratory of Yuchai R & D Center felt Yuchai has trained him a lot and he has a strong sense of accomplishment and satisfaction though he is busy. Yuchai should balance internal talent training with external talent introduction in order to become internationalized. For example, Li Songlin and Chen Chunxian, two experts introduced by the center have not only brought knowledge, standards and experience, but also helped us establish and standardize our R & D system rapidly.
As for talent training, Bai Yunfeng from the clearing section of No. 2 foundry workshop of the foundry center of Yuchai Foundry noted that graduates should investigate and learn in advanced foreign enterprises to broaden their vision. Yang Xiankai from the light machining section of Engine Plant 2 thought the plant has developed rapidly with great demand for talents, creating a huge opportunity for graduates' career development. He suggested that graduates should work on the first line for at least two years. The last speaker was backbone representative Ye Yu who joined Yuchai as a postgraduate in 2007 and is currently the head of the system integration and strategy development group under the Electronic Control System R & D Department of Yuchai R & D Center. He offered his idea and suggestion on problems existing in corporate development. The company's electronic control engine sales have been growing, but there are some problems with the information management of electronic control engines pressing for solution, he said. Aiming at the actualities of the company's technical project development, he suggested that the company should lay emphasis on some promising technical R & D projects during project development.
Yan listened to the speeches by the young backbone representatives carefully, clearly requiring Ye to provide two detailed written proposals after his return. Referring to engine data management proposed by Ye, Yan said data should be provided in a standardized and principled manner. As for project development, Yan said the issue of basic technical R & D is very important. An enterprise's R & D should be well-grounded instead of being hastened for immediate success. Without basic research, our R & D will be water without a source.
Following the symposium, Yan told the backbone representatives that Yuchai machinery would select 30 plant assistants, president assistants and general manager assistant by general acclaim at six directly subordinate plants, Yuchai Sales Co., Ltd., Yuchai Machinery Monopoly Development Co., Ltd., Yuchai Machinery Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, the general departments of Yuchai Machinery such as general affairs office, IT department, enterprise management department and HR department should also select reserve cadres from them.
Yan stressed Yuchai is inclined to those without first-line working experience during cadre appointment, all the 30 talents selected must be from the first line and the grass-roots level. The company will accelerate the growth of these cadres, build platforms and lay stairs for them in two or three years, and make them Yuchai's nucleus in five years.
Yan pinned great hope on the 13 young backbone representatives present, encouraging them to be ambitious, have the courage to do great things and keep challenging themselves in their career.
