Yuchai Machinery's 30,000-unit Engine Remanufacturing Project Passes Review

On November 13, the Review Meeting on 30,000-Unit Engine Remanufacturing Project of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai Machinery) took place at Yulin Hotel. Present were representatives of functional departments like the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Guangxi Development and Reform Commission, Yulin Development and Reform Commission and Yulin Industry and Information Commission. Yao Xin, chief of the Economic Division of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environment Protection of NDRC, presided over the meeting. Leaders including Chen Shijun, assistant to general manager of Yuchai Machinery and Li Xiao, manager of Engine Plant 3 made presentations.

According to sources, China launched pilot remanufacturing of auto parts in March 2008 and NDRC determined 14 pilot enterprises. Yuchai was listed among the pilot enterprises subject to inspection. In previous inspections, the expert acceptance panel offered Yuchai good opinions and advice on quality control system establishment, production line layout design, remanufacturing reverse logistics recovery system, construction of sales network of remanufactured products and use of the national label for remanufactured products. This time, the panel returned to Yuchai for review for the purpose of further verifying and inspecting Yuchai's correction in the five aspects.

Yuchai briefed the panel on its 30,000-unit engine remanufacturing project. Yuchai launched the project in 2005, was listed among the country's first group of pilot auto parts remanufacturers in 2008, has completed the project after six years of exploration and construction, and has been capable of turning out 30,000 units of remanufactured parts and engines annually. The project can yield an economic benefit of 140 million yuan, create over 300 jobs, save over 1,600 tons of standard coal and reduce 4,800 tons of carbon dioxide emission.

The panel recognized the project, hoping that Yuchai would continue bringing its advantage into play, establish a new mode and introduce experience to more enterprises as an example. The panel approved of submitting remanufacturing project review materials submitted by Yuchai to NDRC for verification upon collation.

Yao Xin commented on the meeting, praising Yuchai's progress. Yuchai has made proper correction according to the opinions and advice on five aspects offered by panel, especially in quality control system, he said. As a national brand, Yuchai has spare no efforts in technical R & D, he added, hoping that Yuchai would continue intensifying technical R & D and increasing investment in remanufacturing, increase the value and production efficiency of remanufactured products and incorporate the remanufacturing plan into the overall strategy.

Before the meeting, the panel conducted a field investigation of Yuchai's remanufacturing line, remanufactured parts and so on.
