According to recent sources from Yuchais relevant departments, based on the requirements of the annual work plan of the corporate Party committee, in order to give timely and effective psychological counseling to employees, prevent employees from suffering psychological disorders, help employees out of mental troubles and alleviate employees mental stress, Yuchai will progressively import EAP (Employee Assistance Program) by seven stages this year.
Nowadays, amid increasingly fierce global economic competition and intensified industrial competition, Yuchai is facing unprecedented pressure and challenge. Particularly, with the implementation of Yuchais twelfth five-year plan and the intensification of reform and innovation, work requirements have become increasingly higher, new consequent problems such as interest restructuring and concept change have put some pressure on the psychology of all cadres and employees. Besides, employees often suffer from mental stress such as anxiety and distress due to problems about family, marriage, employment, children and relatives. For these reasons, to fulfill Yuchais concept of human orientation, spare no efforts to build a harmonious Yuchai, maintain employees mental health, enhance their work performance and promote the accomplishment of the objective of 100 billion yuan, Yuchai will practice EAP progressively this year in the way of pilot practice, popularization and breakthrough.
EAP originated from the U.S. in the early 20th century and was initiated by Walsh. Initially, it was intended to help employees overcome mental disorders caused by problems such as alcoholism, drug taking and abuse of adverse drugs. After long-term development, EAP system has been perfected gradually to form a set of strategies provided by organizations with the aim of helping employees solve problems that may affect their work performance and health. EAP has developed into a new popular welfare program offered by organizers to employees in the world, and its implementation is of great importance to improving the working and living quality of organization employees and sharpening organizations core competitiveness.
Since the 1980s, EAP has grown prosperously abroad, has made great progress and been used widely in the U.S. and some developed European countries as well. Since the launch of Chinas first complete EAP--Lenovo EAP in March 2001, EAP has remained as a new concept to the vast majority of Chinese enterprises. Only Chinese branches of a couple of multinationals such as Motorola and HP and few large-sized domestic enterprises have implemented EAP. Importing EAP this year shows Yuchais concern about employee health, marking a move of Yuchai to enhance corporate management, bring itself in line with international practice, promote healthy corporate development and benefit employees.
