On March 30, the three-day China Guangxi (Myanmar) Commodity Fair (GMCF) was held at Rangoon International Convention Center. The Overseas Department of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) participated with four selected engines suiting the Burmese market. Gao Qiang, assistant to general manager of YM and Liang Bing, deputy general manager of the Overseas Department of YM attended the fair and relevant economic trade activities. In the afternoon, Guangxi-Myanmar Investment and Trade Fair and the project signing ceremony were staged in Rangoon. Gao, on behalf of Yuchai, concluded a 4 million US dollars worth of engine supply agreement with a Burmese company.
As the leading enterprise in Chinas engine industry, Yuchai attracted swarms of Burmese customers upon showing up. Myrint Swe, governor of Yangon Region and Wu Win Myint, minister of commerce of Myanmar personally visited Yuchais booth, inquiring into the characteristics of Yuchai products, took away relevant product data, and hoped to visit Yuchai this year to negotiate about further cementing the cooperation between Yuchai and Burmese enterprises. During the fair, Yuchais customers and agents flocked to the booth, and a heavy-duty truck customer ordered 10 dumper trucks carrying 6M engines immediately after visiting the booth.
As an emerging market in Southeast Asia, Myanmar boasts great potential. Yuchai established an office in Myanmar in August 2010 and has progressively established a marketing service network since. After more than a years market operations, Yuchai has made rapid breakthrough in Myanmar, with its sales volume in Myanmar soaring from 29 units in 2010 to 644 units in 2011. Yuchai maintained the strong momentum in Myanmar in 2012. Yuchai had exported more than 500 units to Myanmar by late March and is expected to export more than 1,500 units throughout the year. Myanmar has become one of Yuchais fastest-growing overseas markets.
