On July 9, the inaugural and launch ceremony of Yuchai Remanufacturing Services (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (YRC) was held at Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). At 10:08 AM, Yuchai and Caterpillar jointly announced YRCs opening, marking a new chapter of Yuchai in developing the cyclic economy at the countrys call of energy conservation and emission reduction.
Present at the ceremony were leaders, guests as well as representatives of distributors and suppliers, including Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group and Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM); Wu Qiwei, general manager of YM; Yan Jie, assistant to chairman of YM and chairman of YRC; Greg Folley, vice president of Caterpillar; Kevin Thieneman, country manager for Caterpillar China, India and ASEAN; Li Zhengyu, Caterpillar global mining and Asia-Pacific remanufacturing manager; Xu Binshi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of the State Key Laboratory of Remanufacturing Technologies; Yang Zhiping, chairman of the SIP Administrative Committee and Xing Min, executive deputy secretary-general of the China Internal Custom Engine Industry Association (CICEIA).

In April 2010, Yuchai and Caterpillar (China) Investment Co., Ltd. established a joint venture--Yuchai Remanufacturing Services (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. The new plant is located in SIP. With an initial production area of some 14,000 square meters, the company primarily provides remanufacturing services for Yuchai and Caterpillar and third parties.
At the ceremony, Wu said he sincerely hoped YRCs cadres and workers would seize the great opportunity of remanufacturing development to provide cost-effective remanufactured products to the market, accomplish the high unity of social and economic benefits, lay a solid foundation for Yuchai to honor its commitment to keeping to a resource-conserving and environment-friendly road of green development and contribute to the fulfillment of Yuchais commitment to be Chinas largest mobile pollution source controller.

We expect to achieve our new objective in the remanufacturing field, and we are confident of offering customers value-added services beyond their expectations and meeting the requirements of social and environmental development, Yan Jie said.
The plant will support Chinas ever-growing remanufacturing business, the joint venture enables both parties to flexibly meet Chinas market demand through remanufactured products, advance the sustainability of manufacturing and accords with the concept of sustainability and environmental protection advocated by the Chinese government, said Greg Folley.
YRC will remanufacture outdated parts to turn out products comparable to original new products in terms of reliability, durability and performance. Remanufacturing can reduce waste, minimize material consumption and save purchase and use costs for customers to the minimum within life cycles of products.
During the friendly meeting, both Yuchais high-level leaders and their Caterpillar counterparts expressed great satisfaction about cooperation progress, expecting for deeper cooperation. Yuchai attaches great importance to the cooperation with Caterpillar, YRCs smooth opening and operation is the foundation for friendly cooperation, and Yuchai will make full use of existing resources to support the development of the joint venture, Yan Ping said. Greg Folley had full confidence in the prospect of the cooperation with Yuchai and spoke highly of Yuchais business performance.
An exchange with experts and scholars
During the ceremony, Yuchais and Caterpillars high-level leaders held cordial talks with Xu Binshi, Xu Binshi, Chinas remanufacturing leader, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of the State Key Laboratory of Remanufacturing Technologies, as well as leaders of CICEIA.
