On July 18, along the Yu River in Guiping, Guangxi, people thronging, banners fluttering, excavators, bulldozers, rollers and transport carts wearing red flowers moved in the construction site one after another, marking the launch of the construction of a national water control project--a road supporting Dateng Gorge hydro-junction, a national water control project.

Over the past six months in the lead up to the launch, the headquarters have meticulously selected a batch of fine construction equipment to ensure the project progresses smoothly as scheduled. According to sources, with an investment of 49 billion yuan, the project water control project will be jointly constructed by the Department of Water Resources, Guangxi and Guangdong. The road works will last two years. With a total length of 5.9 kilometers and an investment of 80 million yuan, the project is expected to be open to traffic in late 2014.
