863 project Key Technology of Four-Cylinder Diesel Engine and Its Development undertaken by four e

Recently, Shanghai Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute (SICERI) held a meeting to accept Research and Development of Diesel Engines Specific to Small and Medium-sized Agricultural Machinery and Construction Machinery, a project under Program 863 in Wuxi. As a result, Key Technology of Four-Cylinder Diesel Engine and Its Development undertaken by four entities including Yuchai, Tianjin University, Changchai and SICERI passed the acceptance by the expert panel of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).

As the major research entity of the project, Yuchai selected two engine models for technical improvement, thereby accomplishing emission upgrading. Through a simulation analysis and test improvement of the fuel supply systems, air intake systems and combustion chambers of the two models, integrated technologies of injection pump and nozzle pressure, and rational organization of combustion have been improved to make the models meet the projected requirements in terms of performance, emission and fuel consumption. Yuchai successfully applied technologies of water-air inter cooling and off-road combustion optimization, thus the technical route of T3 off-road engines standardization and the main technical points of engines.
