When I saw Wu Qiwei, general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., he was showing two distributors around the showroom to introduce Yuchai's new products. He was still familiar with products, still received customers warmly and still answered any question from the media.
Although the sales target of 470,000 units in 2013 is not easy, Wu had full confidence in fulfilling the target. His confidence is from two major industrial policies to be implemented in 2013: the National IV and National V emission standards for diesel engines and gas engines respectively.
"We will focus on emission upgrade this year, every upgrade is an opportunity for us and every previous upgrade has boosted our business performance. It cannot be denied that the National IV and National V emission upgrade is a challenge, but will value the challenge as an opportunity and I believe Yuchai will have more opportunities of development in this respect," Wu said, adding Yuchai has geared up for that.
Yuchai has made full preparations in terms of product output, placing relevant products earlier. On December 27, 2012, Yuchai took the lead in the industry to launching seven National V gas engines and 5 National IV diesel engines. "Yuchai has covered announcements on key vehicle models powered by National IV diesel engines and National V gas engines, launching all series," Wu said, adding the lead means preemptive planning, preemptive announcement, preemptive development and preemptive launch of National IV diesel engines and National V gas engines, thereby leading step by step.
In terms of services, Yuchai has been stepped up efforts earlier to build an electronic control service support system based on product penetration. So far, Yuchai has formed an all-round electronic control service support system with over 1,200 electronic control service outlets, and has divided electronic control grades within the system to form over 40 advanced outlets, over 200 intermediate ones and 900 elementary ones. In 2012, Yuchai delivered 35 training sessions to these service outlets with a total of over 600 trainees, thus steadily improving the electronic control support capacity of Yuchai's service system.
In terms of R & D, Yuchai's technical strength is beyond doubt, it has been sparing no efforts to invest in emission upgrade technologies, is China's first enterprise that has launched diesel engines up to National III, National IV, National V and Euro VI emission standards, three to five years ahead of the implementation of national mandatory standards.
"Whether in R & D or in production, we have been well prepared. With product and service preparations, with the nation's close attention to environmental protection, with terminal customers' trust and service providers' confidence in Yuchai, I am confident of achieving the goal of securing 455,000 units, striving for 470,000 units and challenging 490,000 units," Wu told the press.
