On March 5, Sichuan's major industrial technology innovation project--new 280 diesel engine development project of CSR Yuchai Sichuan Engine Co., Ltd. (CSR Yuchai) passed the mid-stage assessment of the expert group on assessment of Sichuan's major industrial technology innovation projects, and will continue receiving an amount of over 600,000 yuan annually as financial support from the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission.

At the assessment meeting, Lyu Benhong, vice general manager of CSR Yuchai, reported on the project's approval, progress, fund raising, market prospect and economic benefit. The company's persons in charge of finance, technology and marketing answered corresponding inquiries from the expert group.

The expert group spoke highly of the project's progress and R & D results, offered suggestions on and raised requirements to the project's progress and management, and announced that the company's new 280 diesel engine development project passed the mid-stage assessment.

According to sources, CSR Yuchai's new 280 diesel engine development project was approved by CSR Corporation Limited and China Railway Corporation (formerly Ministry of Railways) in 2012, and was included in the list of Sichuan's major industrial technology innovation projects in August 2013. The project adapts to the need of fast railway and passenger transport and fast heavy-haul freight transport in China, and perfectly meets the power requirements of 3500kW large-power shunting locomotives and diesel-electric locomotives for railway trunk lines. Also, new 280 diesel engine can be transformed into power for ships and stationary generating sets, thus further expanding the company's product market.
