The cold front of global financial crisis is spreading to the manufacturing industry of China . However, the reporter, on a recent visit to the largest production base for internal combustion engine of China Guangxi Yuchai Group, found that it had adjust the production according to the changes of orders. Yuchai Engineering Technology Research Institute presented a scene of bustling activity before them. The R&D personnel even had to work overtime for research and development.  

A frequently used word in Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Led. is the product crisis. In fact, Yuchai has grown from a small unknown factory into the largest production base of the internal combustion engine of China . Taking its diesel engine for instance, it has 13 series, 1,300 varieties of engines.       

What is the "product crisis" of Yuchai? The company explained that some manufacturing enterprises in connection with the engine stop or cut production because of the shrink of road transport and orders slump due to the financial crisis. Yuchai turned its focus on the future market demand. It actively adjusts the production structure and made every effort in technological upgrade accord to the market.  

In the last quarter of this year, the central government put a raft of measures to spur domestic demand and stimulate the growth. The large scale investment will inevitably increase the demand of construction machines, as well as the rural consumption. Deputy General Manager of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. Wu Qiwei said. Wu added that we will make great transform in our engine products. For example, the original luxurious one will change to economical one. Currently we already get related products in the construction machine market and rural market. So, I firmly believe this sector will go up despite the downward economy.   

We shall take an active role in adapting the market rather than idly wait for the favor of the market. Using the product crisis concept Yuchai group prepared with technology reserve for the swift response to the market competition. Yan Ping, chairman of the board of Yuchai Group said: the company has to make full use of the period within global financial crisis to increase "Internal strength", and solve outstanding issues, notwithstanding the sales slip stemming from the crisis.  

By the end of November this year, as is showed on the work report meeting on product crisis of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd, a total of 16 projects were completed as scheduled. 60 projects gained remarkable progress. Some even achieved encouraging results. Moreover, 34 key projects made major advancement.
