    The business concept of Excellent quality and globalized Yuchaiwas set up in Yuchai  

On January 20, 2008, the Yuchai Machinery 2008 marketing services general conference was held in Changsha , Hunan Province. It was at this event that the business concept of Excellent quality and globalized Yuchai was introduced. This significant strategy is not only served as 2008 marketing services strategy, but also is the guidance for Yuchai management work for the future. In 2008 alone, Yuchai Engineering Co., Ltd exported a total of 952 excavators worth 20.13 million US dollars, reaching a record high. Its export of excavators below 15 tons ranked the 1^st place in China while the export of engine had a year-on-year increase of 48%.   

Yuchai was listed in the first batch of the auto parts remanufacturing experimental enterprises

On March 6, Yuchai appeared in the first batch of auto parts remanufacturing experimental enterprises that was released by National Development and Reform Commission. It meant Yuchai got the qualification for auto parts remanufacturing. As early as May 2006, Yuchai already established an engine remanufacturing plant (i.e. the 3^rd engine plant). This successful auto parts remanufacturing would add momentum to the development of Yuchai engine remanufacturing project. In Dec., Yuchai remanufacturing project received 10 million Yuan from the national resource conservation and environmental protection projects approved by National Development and Reform Commission.

    Yuchai Established Joint Research & Development Center with Brunel University

On April 16, chairman of board of Yuchai Yan Ping and Prof. Chris Jenks, of Brunel University both signed the cooperation agreement to build Brunel-Yuchai Research Center . The establishment of Brunel-Yuchai Research Center is an important forward step for Yuchai to cooperate with international top engine design institutes. It is a significant step for Yuchai Engineering Research Institute rising to Top Five of the World and a major step for Yuchai to implement its internationalization strategy.

    Yuchai Group joined the United Nations Global Compact

Recently, the Global Compact Organization of the United Nations sent an official letter to Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group to welcome it to join the Global Compact Global Compact includes the largest number of entrepreneurial citizens in the world. Yuchai Group now has officially become one of the members of the Global Compact. On June 26, for the 1^st time, Yuchai published <green development and win-win in harmony the 2008 sustainable development report of Yuchai Group>. Its the first social responsibility report of the China 's internal combustion engine industry and enterprises of western China . It drew public attention. In the afternoon of July 2, during the visit to China , the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon invited Chinese enterprises of Global Compact to have discussion. Yan Ping was invited to attend the symposium.

    Huge assistance from Yuchai to earthquake-stricken areas for reconstruction

On June 2, Yuchai Group held the delivery ceremony for supplies to Sichuan earthquake-stricken area. After a brief ceremony, trucks carrying the power generators, excavators, and other supplies were sent to earthquake-stricken areas with the love of the 18,000 Yuchai employees. The total supply that has been sent to Sichuan was more than 15 million Yuan.

On July 16, a foundation laying ceremony of Yuchai casting center was held in A area of Yuchai Industrial Park . It covered a total of 1,800 mus with the capacity of as much as 290 thousand tons of castings for diesel engine blocks. It becomes one of the largest production bases for diesel engine casts in Asia .

On September 22, Yan Ping announced the establishment of the Board of Guangxi Yuchai Group Co., Ltd. and the first management team during the meeting of Yuchai Group and Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. The selected directors are Yan Ping, Li Tingshen, Gu Tanshen, Zeng Shiqiang Zeng, Zhang Shiyong, Zhang Jiasa, Chen Chunqiang, Wu Qiwei, Liang Heping, Li Hanyang, and Wang Hong. Besides those directors, Rao Yingxian was selected as the director representing  employees. The new executive of the Group consists of six members that include the Chief Executive, Gu Tangsheng, Deputy Executives Zhang Shiyong, Yang Bo, Su Peng, Chief Engineer Li Hanyang, and Chief Accountant Wang Hong.  

On October 16, the 4th Congress of CPC Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. was held. The fourth Committee of CPC Guangxi Yuchai Group Machinery Co., Ltd. and the Commission for Discipline Inspection were established. On the same day, the Committee of CPC Guangxi Yuchai Group Machinery Co., Ltd. and the Commission for Discipline Inspection respectively had their 1^st meetings. During the meetings, Yan Ping was elected as party secretary. Zhang Jiasha was elected as deputy party secretary and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection. Guo Deming was elected as deputy secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection.  

    Yuchai took control of Haihong Group  

On November 5, Yuchai Group successfully completed the business registration on the shareholder changes and officially took control of the company after it bought 35% shares of Zhejiang Haihong Group. The president of Haihong Group Chen Chunqiang who was appointed by Yuchai, has taken office in Haihong. It is another successful operation example of Yuchai Group as an investment and financing management enterprise in recent years. In the next 2 to 3 years, Yuchai Group is going to provide technical, financial, management and marketing support to grow Haihong, to become a global supplier of construction machinery hydraulic parts and international competitive production base for hydraulic parts.

    Ismail Tiliwaldi led the delegation of central government visited Yuchai, and highly praised Yuchai as the pride of China  

On December 14, deputy head of central government delegation and vice chairman of the National People's Congress Committee Ismail Tiliwaldi led the 3^rd sub-delegation visited Yuchai. He extended the warm greeting from the central committee of the Party, State Council and people of the nation to the whole staff of Yuchai. Ismail Tiliwaldi highly praised the innovation of Yuchai. In front of the first home made Euro-V engine independently, he picked up the loudspeaker and said: Yuchai is the pride of China ! The contribution Yuchai has made to the nation is huge!     The goal to rebuild another Yuchai within 3 years was achieved  

 As of December 31, the sales income of Yuchai Group of 2008 reached 20 billion Yuan. It achieved the goal of to rebuild another Yuchai that was proposed in the General Conference of Marketing Strategy in the early 2006. Whats more, Yuchai was honored Centenary Achievement Award of Chinas Internal Combustion Engine, the Chinese Brand of the Year 2008 , and was ranked the 257^th place in the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, up 12 places over the previous year.
