The 24th World University Winter Games was held in Harbin City of Heilongjiang province from February 18 to February 28. It was the first time that China held a comprehensive international winter games. During the 11 days games, more than 2,000 college student athletes from 44 countries and regions competed in  the arena. A total of 140 buses assembled with Yuchai CNG engines were operated during the games. It was the first time that Yuchai engines were put into large-scale public event since this year.  It had great significance and big impact.  

Aiming to complete the service mission effectively, Yuchai Service Center started preparations since the end of last year and established a special service team for the University Winter Games. In accordance with the requirements of high standards, strict demands, early deployment and secure services, the center used the experience from the Beijing Olympic Games, made some adjustment to the cold weather of Harbin , made careful arrangement and laid a sound groundwork for the service work.  

That was the 1^st batch of CNG engines entering the Northeast, in particular, the Harbin market. Facing four difficultieslow temperature, little experience, limited time and heavy tasks, it can be described as the first battle of CNG in the Northeast of China of Yuchai.   

Buses assembled with Yuchai CNG engines were mainly used to transport athletes, referees, journalists and audiences. The performance of Yuchai engines and service were the show to the market prospects of Yuchai engine passenger buses in the Northeast and Yuchai's long-term goal of CNG engine promotion.

At the beginning of the game, vice general manager of Yuchai Exclusive Sales Co., Ltd. Chen Xunan and chief services technical engineer Hu Tiebin and other leaders with a team visited Harbin public transit companies. Their sincere and friendly attitude, openly communication, and proactive approach had won unanimous recognition and high appreciation from clients, paving a smooth way for future work.

Yuchai personnel braves minus 30 degrees to perform the vehicle inspection and maintenance

When the buses entered the city, the temperature dropped to minus 30 degrees that posted a real test to the engines. In order to allow the engines to adapt to the environment and work well, Zhang Bin, director of the Office of Heilongjiang and the staff of the office and service station did the vehicle inspection and maintenance to ensure the performance of every bus under minus 30 degrees.   

During the Games, all members of the service team got up at 4 oclock in the morning and hurried to every check points to check every detail of the vehicle prior to the use of buses at 5 oclock.  

Not a single bus failed during the Games due to the good planning, effective measures and on-site quality service. The team successfully accomplished all transportation of the Games and got the victory on the the first battle of CNG in the Northeast of China. The team also won the high appreciation from clients, as well as the recognition of the Organizing Committee of the Games for their environmentally friendly emissions, preeminent quality, considerate service and reliable outstanding power. It opened a new page of Yuchai engine passenger bus getting access to the Northeast and laid a sound foundation for the next promotion for gas engines.
