The completion ceremony

Teachers, students, parents, as well as people from around the school gathered to celebrate the completion of Songtao Yuchai Hope Elementary School in the morning of March 31.

Chairman of Yuchai Group Yan Ping, vice mayor of Ziyang city Guo Yonghong, secretary of Yanjiang district CCP committee Mao Shaobai and other important guests and leaders attended the celebration.

The devastating 5.12 earthquake severely damaged Songtao Zhennan Elementary School, the predecessor of Songtao Yuchai Hope Elementary School that left children out of school. With the attention from city CCP committee and district CCP committee and the generous donation of 1.5 million Yuan from Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group, the new school that can hold about 800 students broke ground in October 2008 and was put into use in March 2009.  

During the construction of the school, despite the long trips between Yulin city and Ziyang city, leaders of Yuchai Group made all efforts to participate in the planning of the school. The construction proceeded with the care from leaders of Ziyang CCP Committee and government and it met the requirements of the authority of Yanjiang district --standardized design, garden-like environment, modernized equipments, and scientific layout which ensured the completion in quality and in time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Yuchai Group Yan Ping said that he would visit the school every year, do something to help students and set aside parts of his and his wifes salary to award outstanding students. He also hoped that Songtao Yuchai Hope Elementary School would be built into a top elementary school in Yanjiang District under the joint efforts of the faculties and students.

Vice mayor of Ziyang city Guo Yonghong and secretary of Yanjiang district CCP committee Mao Shaobai respectively extended their heartfelt thanks to Yuchai Group and chairman Yan Ping for their strong supports to the education of Yanjiang district.
