"The First Forum of Chinese Green Industrial Economy & 2008 Award-wining Evening for Energy-saving and Emission Reduction Promotion in China" was held in Beijing recently. It was co-organized by All-China Environment Association and China Enterprise News. With outstanding contributions to energy-saving and emission reduction through implementing green power and green manufacturing concepts, Yuchai Group was titled the 2008 Chinese Outstanding Enterprise on Energy-saving and Emission Reduction. It became a benchmark and model for the enterprises nationwide on energy-saving and emission reduction.  

Yuchai is the first Chinese enterprise to introduce the State III diesel engines into market, the first enterprise to develop and produce State IV and State V diesel engines and the first to have the capacity to make diesel engines and supporting components for sedans. Its state-level patents received over the past 3 years totaled 449.

Yuchai takes the social responsibility to achieve sustainability of society by implementing green power and green manufacturing concepts. Under the guidance of the concept of Scientific Development, Yuchai introduced the core value of green development and win-win in harmony and the mission to provide excellent and advanced power products to meet public demand. It works hard to try to be the leader of green power, the controller of the largest mobile pollution and the contributor of energy and materials-saving in China . Yuchai has been making every effort to improve the environment of humans.

The minimum fuel consumption of Yuchai diesel engines was dropped as much as 14 from 230g /Kw.h of the YC6105QC engine produced in 1998 to 197g /Kw.h of the YC 6L engine produced in 2007. Yuchai produced State II, State III, State IV and State V engines 3 to 5 years before the nation implemented the corresponding emission standards. Although the output of Yuchai engines in 2007 was six times as much as in 1994, the total volume of particulate emission of engines produced in 2007 didnt increase that achieved the gaol of sustainable development. During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, more than 2,000 State IV engines and 130 garbage transfer stations produced by Yuchai were used. Totally, over 5,500 vehicles served the Games were assembled with environmentally-friendly engines produced by Yuchai that made Yuchai become the pride of national brands.

With the gain of the environmental management system certification ISO14001, Yuchai kept reducing the unit energy consumption for past 7 years. The reduction is from 0.359 ton coal/unit (piece) in 2002 to 0.136 ton coal/unit (piece) in 2007. Its annual volume of recycled water surpassed 30,000 tons. The dust removal efficiency in machining and casting reached 98 ~ 99%. In recent years, Yuchai has invested over 200 million Yuan for building new plants and workshops, introducing a number of high efficiency and low energy consumption production equipments, as well as establishing sewage treatment stations and systems. Additionally, in the remanufacturing field, Yuchai has been the model of sustainable economy and contributed more to energy-saving and emission reduction. Remanufacturing one engine in Yuchai costs only 10% of the materials and processing charges compare to produce a new one, and consumes only 20% of the energy for producing  new diesel engine.  The remanufactured engines have the same capability as new ones.
