Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group received the Chinas Automotive Industry Innovation Award at the 12^th Beijing International Science and Technology Expo and the Chinese High-tech Enterprise Development Forum & 3^rd Award-wining Ceremony of Chinas Automotive Industry Innovation Award. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information, the State Intellectual Property Office, the International Trade Promotion Committee and the Beijing Municipal Government at the Great Hall of the People and Crowne Plaza Hotel in Beijing on May 20 and 21. Deputy Party secretary of Yuchai Group Guo Deming, on behalf of Yuchaithe sole winner from the engine manufacturing industry received the award at ceremony from academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Guo Konghui.

It is a newly added award for the current elections of independent innovation of China. The Chinas Automotive Industry Innovation Award is subject to the strict recommendation and review from a number of academicians and relevant experts. Yuchai was honored the award with unanimous agreement of the organizing committee of the election. Thirteen winners of this years awards were Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd., China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Beiqi Futian Automobile Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co., Ltd., and Fast Auto Drive Group Co., Ltd. from sedan auto, truck, passenger vehicle and auto parts industries.

The award is to promote the independent innovation of Chinese enterprises, build the national brand awareness and the increase the study, keenness and innovation images of the nation to establish the international brands with Chinese characteristics and boost the booming of the high-tech industry. With the criteria of corporate innovation efficiency, entrepreneurship, social responsibility and public image, as well as building a creative environment, the organizer picked up the outstanding units, entrepreneurs, personnel of research and management that had outstanding contributions to structure innovation, technological innovation, service innovation, business model innovation and integration innovation. A group of noted political figures and Nobel Prize laureates attended the expo and forum. Tens of media including China Central Television, Science and Technology Daily and Sina.com covered the whole activities.

All winners are landmark enterprises in pursuing independent innovation with Chinese characteristics. I hope they will establish the technology innovation system centered on the market in combination with production, research and development, in order to expand the market, enhance the strength, and build the national brands by independent innovation. They should make every effort to build the international brands with Chinese characteristics. Guo Konghui said at the ceremony. As usual, Yuchai based its development on the independent innovation. Through continue efforts and exploration, it set up the independent innovation system with Yuchais characteristics. Centered on the technology innovations, it has built the national brand of Chinese engine and created a series of records. Those records are: the first in the internal-combustion engine industry to win the National Quality Award, the first to achieve the production and sales of State III diesel engines in larges scale, the first to develop the State IV diesel engine and put them into market in large scale, the first to develop and produce the State V diesel engine, the first to independently develop the diesel engines for Sedan and its supporting components, and the first to launch the ISG urban hybrid engine. Based on the innovations, management and system, it proposed the core concept of green development and win-win in harmony and offered a variety of excellent products to the community. In return those products helped the company to continue growth and development. Even with the auto market submerged in the gloom 2009, guided by the Concept of Scientific Development, the company implemented the to increase internal strength and external power, and successfully achieved a rebound in the first half of the year that created another Yuchai miracle in the industry.     

The selection activity showed the latest achievements of China in terms of independent innovation, industrial upgrading, shift of development model, as well as economic, and science and technology competitiveness.
