The burgeoning Ziyang city of Sichuan province is booming. The first high-power marine engine was successful rolled out from the assembly line at Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. on May 9, 2009. Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial CCP Committee and CCP secretary of Sichuan State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission Wang Shaoxiong, secretary of Ziyang municipal CCP committee Li Jia, Mayor Luo Qinhong, chairman of Yuchai Group Yan Ping, president of CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. Luo Yanming cut the ribbon for the successful production of the first high-power marine engine together.  

The project bears the missions of supporting disaster reconstruction, revitalization of the national marine engine industry, and the structural adjustment of Yuchais engine sector. It also is the wish of the locals and Yuchai staff. It is the result of the great efforts of employee and leaders at all level. Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial CCP Committee Wang Shaoxiong visited the sit of the project twice. Chairman of Yuchai Group Yan Ping came to the disaster area in Sichuan four times and dedicated a lot of time to the project during the negotiation, design, site choosing, and framework.   

The successful production of the sample engine marked the beginning of Yuchai Group and CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. to enter into the large-size marine engine market. It is the landmark of the post-disaster reconstruction of Ziyang.

Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. is co-funded by the subsidiary of Yuchai Group Yuchai Power Machinery Co., Ltd. and the subsidiary of CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. Ziyang Chenfeng Electric Co., Ltd. The company specializes in the development and production of large-size medium-speed marine diesel engine and diesel engines for small- and medium-size autos.   

Being the largest independent production base of diesel engines in the world, Yuchai Group has the most advanced R&D and manufacturing technologies of diesel engines and comprehensive sales and service networks and parts supply system. In 2008, Yuchai made and sold 550,000 diesel engines, maintaining the top place in the industry in China for the consecutive 8^th year. From January to April, a total of 255,000 diesel engines were made and sold, up 10% compares to the same period last year. It continued to hold the first place in the industry and created the so-called Yuchai miracle rebound even with the financial crisis.  

Ziyang Chenfeng Electric Co., Ltd. produces and repairs internal-combustion locomotives, parts of electric locomotives and track communication equipments. It has advanced and comprehensive production equipments for high-power internal-combustion engine parts and has strong capacity of assembling high-power diesel engines.

The project of Yuchai Ziyang small-, medium- and high-power diesel engines is one of the investments of Yuchai in Sichuan and even the western China . The cooperation between Yuchai Group and CSR Ziyang Locomotive Co., Ltd. is to take the full advantage of both sides to build Yuchai Ziyang into an important manufacturing base of auto diesel engine and large-size marine diesel engine in western China. Yan Ping said. The project has a bright future. Currently the demand for domestic high-power engine is very high, but the production capacity is greatly restricted by the bottleneck of technology of manufacturers. Therefore, the phenomenon of the demand outpaces the supply will continue for a long time. The demand for small- and medium-power diesel engine will be further increased because of the new agricultural policies, the strategy of West Development, the increasing of farmers purchasing power, the development of road constructions in rural areas and the rapid development of rural auto markets. Zi Yang was located at the center of the Chongqing and Chengdu urbanization area with highly convenient transportation systems including rails and highways. Nanjun of Zi Yang tries to be the manufacturing base of heavy-, medium-, light- and micro-weight trucks. Its geographic advantages will benefit the Small-, Medium-and high power diesel engine project.  

Its expected that the project will benefit both sides and contribute to the post-disaster reconstruction and the development of Ziyangs economy.

Yuchai Group donated over 15 million Yuan of cashes and supplies for the disaster relief immediately after the 512 Sichuan earthquake. In the meantime, it took the Ziyang engine project as a significant part of its social responsibility for the post-disaster reconstruction and worked very hard on the project. Yan Ping paid high attention to the project and took charge of the project personally.  

As a benchmark project of Ziyang and the post-quake reconstruction, it gained high attention from major leaders of the Sichuan CCP committee and government. Relevant governments offered  strong supports during the introduction and construction of the project.  

After full consultation, Yuchai and Ziyang signed the joint venture agreement to produce diesel engine on May 17, 2008.  

In June 2008, one month after the quake, Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. was formally founded.  

On August 22, 2008, Ziyang government and Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. officially signed the construction agreement for the project of small-, medium-and high-power diesel engine. It became the first large fruit of Ziyang in attracting investments since the quake.

The company held the foundation laying ceremony and started construction of the project on March 31, 2009.   

The project is mainly for producing high-power marine engines, high-power marine generators, small- and medium-power auto engines and gas generator. It has a fixed asset investment of 500 million Yuan and occupies an area of 800 mu. Its construction is divided into three phases. After completion, the new manufacture will have the annual output capacity of 300 high-power marine diesel engines, 200,000 diesel engines and gas engines of varied types. It will generate an annual production value of 5 billion Yuan, 378 million taxe income, as well as about 1,000 new jobs.   

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, one leader said excitedly: The project is a blessing to our city because it will fast our step to build Ziyang to a strong industrial city in Sichuan . It will help upgrade Ziyangs auto industry and play a critical role in building the western auto city.

Shipbuilding is the pride of our industry as it keeps the 3^rd place of the world for the past 12 years and its expected to be the first after 2015. However, 70% of the marine engines used in Chinese ships are imported, 30% are made by OEMs, and only 5 of the high-power diesel engines are domestically made. That does not match the power of China. Chief engineer of Yuchai Group and president of Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. Li Hanyang said at the ceremony for the successful production of the first high-power marine engine. His speech inspirited everybody at the site.  

As the largest independent production base of diesel engines in China and the first brand of Chinese power, we never forget the social responsibility and the revitalization of national power since establishment. Today, Yuchai extends its responsibility to the marine power, from Guangxi to Sichuan .

The successful production of the first marine engine of Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. is very important since the Chinese marine power will get new bright spot as the ships around the world will use engines made by Yuchai Ziyang.  

The YC210 series diesel engine that successfully rolled out from the assembly line is a four-stroke medium-speed marine diesel engine. Its features include high efficiency, energy-saving, good reliability and convenience in maintenance. Its a perfect power option for ships and the generators.   

The YC210 series currently only has the 9-cylinder diesel engine model. It will have 4 more models including the 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-cylinder peers later. YC9210 has two models: one has a rated power of 1935KW and a rated speed of 1000RPM and the other has a rated power of 1820KW and a rated speed of 900RPM. The model with a rated speed of 1000RPM will be used for the main engine of the ship, and the other with a rated speed of 900RPM will be used for the supporting engine of the ship. Both of them meet the NOx emission standard of IMO.  

The broad economy has been changed. It posts both challenges and new opportunities. The central government released the plan for the revitalization of shipping industry to stabilize the production of shipping enterprises, increase the shipping market, develop the equipment for marine engineering, promote the merger and regroup between enterprises. Additionally, it devised specific measures to strengthen the technological upgrade and the capacity of independent innovation.

The successful production of the first marine engine of Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd. is part of the broad economy and the extension of the industrial chain of transportation. Leaders of the Sichuan CCP committee and government expressed that they would provide first class services and guarantees to the investment of Yuchai in Ziyang. They would create the best investment environment with the lowest business costs and a broad platform to jointly boost the sound and sustainable development of auto industry of Ziyang.  

Yuchai Machinery Ziyang Engine Co., Ltd., carrying a new and glorious mission to revitalize the national marine power and rebuild a beautiful homeland is set to sail
