The forum

The GuangxiHigh Level Manager Forum was held in the afternoon of July 3 in Nanning, Guangxi. The theme of the forum is CSR under the influence of the financial crisis. The forum was co-hosted by the newsroom of the <High Level Manager News> under the Xinhua News Agency, the Xinhua News Agency branch in Guangxi and Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. with the assistance of Tongfang Co., Ltd. Government officials, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs were invited to share their views on how to deal with the financial crisis, fulfill CSR under the crisis in addition to the show of the CSR of Guangxi enterprises. The experience of Yuchai had drawn huge attentions from communities.  

Huang Ribo, Vice-chairman of the Peoples Political Consultative Conference of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, delivered the opening address to the forum. Leaders including director general of the Production Safety Supervision Bureau of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Chen Hongqi, deputy director of the Economic Commission of Guangxi Li Wanfu, director of the Economic Research Institute under the Development and Reform Commission Jiang Shengyong attended the forum. Vice president of Xinhua News Agency branch in Guangxi Long Songlin, deputy director of the Economic Information Newsroom under Xinhua News Agency Cao Wenzhong , executive deputy chief editor of Xinhua News Agency branch in Guangxi Liu Wei, deputy director of the International Labor and Information Institute under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security Zhang Junfeng, and associate research fellow of Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences Wu Jian respectively gave speeches at the forum.

President of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. Gu Tangsheng made a speech at the forum with the topic of fulfill our social responsibility to create a green Yuchai. He briefed the practice of Yuchai on CSR from 4 sections. He said: CSR was pushed to the frontier of society as the impacts of the financial crisis had made a number of enterprises dumped CSR. In fact, the more difficulty is, the more CSR should be honored because only through the fulfillment of CSR could the enterprises and communities achieve the harmonious and win-win situation and maintain the continuous growth of enterprises. He summarized Yuchais experience as follow: 1. the fulfillment of CSR guaranteed the sustainability of the company. In line with the core corporate concept of green development and win-win in harmony, Yuchai continued promoting CSR and joined the Global Compact of the United Nations even with the spread and deepening of the financial crisis this year. A total of over 60 million Yuan had been donated by Yuchai to charities since 2002. Yuchai had kept a double-digital annual growth since 2000 for 8 years. In 2008, despite the winter blizzard and Sichuan earthquake, the revenues of Yuchai reached 20.988 billion Yuan. From January to May this year, though the overall industry was in a downturn, its total income was 10.9 billion Yuan, up 3.36%, accounting for 52% of the objective of the whole year. 2. Strengthened corporate management. In response to the financial crisis, Yuchai worked hard to increase internal strengthen and found new market growth points by strengthening management and refining the products and service. 3. Upgraded scientific and technological innovation and enhanced the enterprise's core competitiveness. In recent years, Yuchai focused on the development of a series of new products that held a critical role in adjusting market structure, and fighting against the crisis regarding to technical level of products and product structure. 4. Achieved a win-win development of society. Yuchai signed the commitment of social responsibility with upstream suppliers, downstream OEMs, distributors and service providers that provide an example for other enterprises.

Tongfang Co., Ltd., Guangxi Water Resources & Electric Power Group Co., Ltd. and Poly Real Estate (Guangxi) Co., Ltd. also exchanged their views.   

Zhang Junfeng, deputy director of the International Labor and Information Institute under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, highly appreciated the model enterprises of Guangxi such as Yuchai in honoring CSR. He said that the CSR comprised responsibility to the environment, responsibility to employees, shareholders and others, all of which were in association with people and the sustainable development of society that formed the well-being and development of society. The well-being of society is the well-being of the people. The sustainable development is for the people. Therefore, the respect to people and the achievement of peoples value are important parts of the concept of social responsibility, the value of social responsibility and various activities of social responsibility. It became even more important during the financial crisis.  

In the conclusion address, Long Songlin, vice-president of Xinhua News Agency branch in Guangxi urged the government, enterprises and media to work together, in an effort to help enterprises to honor CSR.
