Zhuo Bin, Dean of Yuchai Engineering Research Institute was teaching young technician

The example of Zhong Hongwen showed how an undergraduate became an experts from the start level and made great achievements.

Despite of his age and shy personality, Zhong Hongwen has been in charge of his research field and become the supervisor of Lubricating and Cooling System Office in Yuchai Engineering Research Institute where there are lots of excellent experts.

Zhong Hongwen told us that he was a little bit disappointed when he arrived in Yulin after graduated from university and found Yulin was a remote place. But he soon found his working passion in Yuchai. Yuchai set the career development plan for new-recruited staff. Every new staff had an engineer and an expert as advisors. According to Zhong Hongwen, the eight-month probation period during which he was assigned to practice in sub-plant, to communicate with advisor, was a great time with great success. On 2003, although he was still a new employee, he was transferred to technology center and assigned an important task. He was responsible for performance development and mechanism design of heavy engine.

On 2004, he became an outstanding technician in R&D project. The blowout of engine cylinder cover was an unfixed problem after several tries. Neither the overseas research institutions could give a practical solution. Based on his experience, Zhong Hongwen conducted experiments on dozens of cylinder covers and found that add load slot on cylinder cover was the solution. He was issued a patent and won the National Excellent Patent Award due to his innovation. Besides, Yuchai awarded the Important Scientific Breakthrough with one hundred thousand Yuan to him. Only three employees won this award at that year.

On 2008, Zhong Hongwen was promoted as a technical supervisor and leads 8-member R&D group to march on the road of innovation.
