On the afternoon of May 26, Yuchai attended 2010 China Conference on the Release of Social Responsibility Reports of Industrial Economic Enterprises held by the China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and released Yuchai Group Sustainable Development Report 2009 at the conference.
To date, Yuchai has released the corporate social responsibility report for three years in a row and attended the conference for two consecutive years as the first enterprise that has released a social responsibility report in the domestic internal combustion engine industry. The conference brought together 29 enterprises from over 10 industries such as iron & steel, machinery, power, chemical industry, mining, nonferrous metal and coal. Machinery enterprises FAW, Dongfeng Motor, JAC, Yunnei Power and Liugong also released their respective social responsibility reports.
At the conference, Zhang Dejiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, sent a written speech, requiring that all enterprises should thoroughly implement the scientific outlook on development and fully perform social responsibility. The UN Global Impact sent a letter of congratulation. Leaders such as Xu Kuangdi, chairman of CFIE and president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Li Wei, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; and Zhu Hongren, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology addressed the conference and delivered speeches. Xu, together with persons in charge of government departments and industrial associations (federations), awarded social responsibility report release certificates to the 29 enterprises releasing social responsibility reports, and Li Chunmei, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of Yuchai Group, received the certificate on behalf of Yuchai.
The conference thought that the release of corporate social responsibility reports would promote more and more enterprises and industries to undertake to perform social responsibility, form a public and transparent mechanism of self regulation and mechanism of social supervision, enhance the influence and reputation of Chinese corporate social responsibility and promote the all-round, coordinated and sustainable development of Chinas economy, society and environment.
The expert panel evaluated reports at the conference. The result showed that in recent years, the value of social responsibility reports had been more and more recognized and concerned by enterprises, the number of Chinese social responsibility reports released had been on the increase, China released the first social responsibility report in China in 2001 and released 631 social responsibility reports in 2009 in excess of the total number of reports published in the previous years, and industrial enterprises and associations became the largest contributor with 399 reports; on the other hand, the expert panel evaluated reports from the six dimensions of report quality and found that the overall quality of reports had increased significantly.
As the first typical case in terms of structural integrity evaluation, Yuchai Group Sustainable Development Report 2009 was highly recognized and valued by the evaluating experts. The report is rich in content, well-formulated, affectionately-expressed and finely-designed, more readable and targeted in information disclosure.
