Yuchai selected to GoldenBee China CSR Council
On June 6, the Fifth International CSR Forum and Ceremony to Announce the 2009 GoldenBee CSR China Honor Roll, themed Responsible Drive behind Economic Recovery, took place in Beijing. At the forum, we were selected to the GoldenBee China CSR Council and awarded the plate, with Chairman Yan Ping as council member.
The event brought together domestic and overseas experts and representatives from all sides that have been paying close attention to economic development and corporate social responsibility (CSR) to analyze new trends of global CSR development and exchange ideas on how to promote the sustainable development of the world. At the forum, a benchmark report was released on Chinas CSR practice in 2009, four sub-forums such as Responsible Drive behind Economic Recovery and Responsible Leaders-Business Pacemakers in New Economy Era, Responsible Competitiveness-A New Driving Force behind the Transformation of Regional Economic Development Mode, Responsible Opportunities in Low Carbon Economy and CSR-A New Pathway to Industrys Sustainable Development were held, the five new members of the GoldenBee China CSR Council including Yuchai Group and 30 enterprises listed on the 2009 GoldenBee CSR China Honor Roll were granted plates and awards.
E Defeng, director of the Department of WTO Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, presided over the forum, and Wang Chao, assistant to the Minister of Commerce, former vice chairman of the European Commission, chairman of CSR Europe and other leaders addressed the forum. Experts and scholars such as Chu Xuping, deputy director of the Research Bureau of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; Susan Njoroge, representative of CSR Europe; and Professor Sun Jirong, chief advisor to WTO Guide and chief CSR expert, made keynote speeches. Industrial social responsibility experts from institutions such as China Banking Association, China Federation of Industrial Economics and China National Textile and Apparel Council, as well as representatives of some enterprises, attended the sub-forums. He Xiaoyu, director of the Propaganda Department of Yuchai Group, attended, on behalf of the company, the plate-awarding ceremony and the sub-forum of CSR-A New Pathway to Industrys Sustainable Development, introduced the companys characteristics in CSR performance and publicized Yuchais concept of sustainable development.
The forum believed that bee-type enterprises with responsible competitiveness would determine the sustainable development of the global economy and have a profound impact on mans future in the process of economic globalization, and advised that enterprises should establish the concept of social responsibility, comprehensively raise the sense of CSR with responsible competitiveness as core, and establish and improve the social responsibility management system with sustainable development as objective in terms of corporate strategy and governing; should deepen the understanding of the value of social responsibility reports and constantly increase the level of formulation of social responsibility reports in terms of social responsibility information disclosure; and should further intensify innovation in CSR practice and increase its economic feasibility in terms of typical social responsibility practice.
Also, experts present believed that the ISO26000 Social Responsibility Guide, formulated under the organization of the International Organization for Standardization, was expected to be finalized before the end of this year, therefore Chinese enterprises should been well prepared for globalization, actively perform social responsibility, introduce social responsibility management and deal with it positively.

The forum, with over 400 attendees, was jointly sponsored by WTO Guide, Sino-German CSR Project and China Association of Trade in Services in combination with CSR Europe and overseas leading trade association of Japan Corporation aggregate. Leaders such as Shi Guangsheng, former minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, chairman of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment and honorary president of WTO Guide; and Chen Jiagui, member of the Standing Committee of National Peoples Congress, director of the Academic Department of the Chinese Academic of Social Science and chairman of GoldenBee CSR Expert Committee attended the awarding ceremony.
