Hardships build success, solid efforts yield abundant results. On March 12, 2010, the first-line project of Phase I of the foundry center, which Yuchai staff has pinned hope on for years, went into production, three days ahead of the date proposed by Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. and universally deemed to be impossible. The project lasted 330 days only, over 200 days ahead of schedule. This is a new miracle created by the leading machinery manufacturer Yuchai Group with intelligence and diligence on the land of the south of China-Yuchai Speed.
        With a first-phase area of about 1,000 mu and an investment of RMB 960 million, the foundry center has not only fundamentally filled a gap in the output of engine castings and broken the bottleneck of development, but also played a significant role in protecting core engine technology, reducing cost and increasing benefit, advancing the strategy of invigorating Yuchai through prospering Yulin and promoting the economic development of Yulin. It is a key project under the strategy, and the successful launch of the center marked a new breakthrough in the strategy.

                                   Concerted efforts for extraordinary performance
       Since the launch of the construction of the foundry center, the Yulin Municipal Committee and Government have pledged to pool the efforts of the whole city to support the construction of the center. On November 25, 2009, Municipal Party Secretary Jin Xiangjun made a survey on the construction progress of the center, encouraging the center to speed up construction to achieve the goal of operation in March 2010.
       On February 12, 2010, Mayor Han Yuanli surveyed the center, sending the greetings of the festival to the workers sticking to their posts and noting that equal emphasis should be laid on the safety, quality and speed of the current construction. Also, he inquired about construction difficulties, instructing the accompanying functional staff to spare no efforts to help to solve problems during the construction of the center and fulfill infrastructural supporting work to ensure the punctual and smooth completion and operation of the first-line project of Phase I of the center.
       Liang Chengzhen, manager in charge of the project, said that a consensus on breaking the routine and staging extraordinary performance had been reached between the project department and all parties concerned. In particular, units closely associated with the foundry center project, such as the manufacturing technology department, manufacture department, equipment plant and property company, performed their respective responsibilities fully and perfectly and responded fast.

                                                   Unbelievable Yuchai Speed
        28 years ago, Shenzhen Speed, featuring a floor three days, caused dramatic changes to the small southern town. Today, with the bold spirit of pioneering cattle, Yuchai created another miracle on the land of the south-construction of the main plant of the first production line of Phase I of the foundry center of Yuchai Group, over 200 days ahead of schedule. According to the national standards, Phase I of the center would last 550 days, but Yuchai spent only 330 days in completing the project. The operation of the center remained efficient at the stage of equipment installation and commissioning, and the completion of installation and commissioning of the main equipment was over a month ahead of schedule.
        Yan Ping, chairman of the board of Yuchai Group, said, The construction of the foundry center was faster than Shenzhen Speed, this is Yuchai Speed.
         Xie Yuqiang, vice president of Yuchai Group, commented, The construction of the foundry center was most efficient among all the projects of Yuchai, setting a good example for the construction of our major projects.
         Foundry is most complicated in project construction in the machinery industry. The new foundry, which made Yuchai proud and covered a building area of 58% of the first-line project of Phase I, lasted four to five years from launch to operation. However, the first production line of Phase I boasted the largest-ever investment in Yulin. The project took only two years from launch in April 2008 to operation. What on earth made Yuchai create such a miraculous speed on the southern land of China?
         In the process of project supervision, Xie reduced the success to three factors: Firstly, support of Yuchai system. Secondly, accurate matching of persons responsible for the project. It is vital to select responsible and professional persons familiar with the project. Lastly, elaborate planning and organization work, strong systematicness. Advancing node by node, assigning responsibilities to specific persons and taking effective measures. 
         Liang told the press the three key factors: Firstly, good cooperation and proper communication produce double effect. Secondly, clear division of labor, systematic management and effective tracking. Ensuring that everything is done. Lastly, mobilizing resources and pooling efforts against the odds. In the face of great difficulties such as large scale and tight schedule, the project department focused on the goal, played a linking role and proactively mobilized the resources of Yulin and the company to support project construction. The joint forces came from the force of internal support of Yuchai, the force of support from Yuchais partners as well as the force of support from the government and relevant departments.
         Chen Jinyuan, chairman of Yuchai Technicians Association, thought that the creation of Yuchai Speed benefited from the unity of Yuchai. All levels, from the chairman, general manager to Party secretary, attached great importance by implementing the organization plan and advancing group by group. In the construction forces, all the staff gave highest priority to the construction of the foundry center.
        Constructors of the foundry center created not only miraculous Yuchai Speed, but also a precious spiritual wealth: staying in solidarity and forging ahead against the odds.

                                                  Working despite hardships
         Behind the miraculous Yuchai Speed are the busy figures, plain hands and firm hearts of Yuchais staff. They worked with great perseverance and diligence, built the foundry center with chariness and resolution, and created todays Yuchai Speed with smile and sweat.
        Immediately after the sending of the instruction on the acceleration in the construction of the foundry center, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. established a foundry center project advancement team headed by the chief mechanic Tan Boxin. During construction, Tan was nicknamed Speed, Accuracy, Aggressiveness.
        A project member revealed in an interview that Tan sometimes called him at 11 p.m., describing work deficiencies and urging him to make correction. Then, they arranged night-shift staff to fix problems to avoid normal production the next day. For example, three modeling manipulators would be commissioned the next day, Tan called him at 6 or 7 p.m., saying that the commissioning would be at 7:30 a.m. next day. As a result, they spent the whole night on water, gas and power connection. Conventionally, the work will take two or three days.
        According to the source, if commissioning is interrupted, sand fluidity will be poorer with the elapse of time, thus affecting equipment commissioning. Therefore, to catch up with the time limit, we volunteered to work overtime. Two German technicians worked with Tan. According to the foreign concept, they must rest in off hours. On February 28, also Chinese traditional Lantern Festival, Tan treated the two foreign technicians to Germens favorite beer, thus motivating them to work shoulder to shoulder with us. So far, The internal and external staff of Yuchai has combined into an indestructible force.
       At the foundry center, Yuchais staff is devoted, loves the enterprise and feels them at home. The busy figures of staff like Tan were seen everywhere, who are interpreting countless touching stories. 
       Before the Spring Festival, father of Fu Tao, head of the modeling line group, was seriously taken ill by rectal cancer. In order not to affect the progress of the project, he stuck to the post; L Heping, deputy manager and person in charge of safety work, kept to the post, but was regretful for having missed the last meeting with his dying father for the rest of his life; Ren Hao, chief in charge of construction scheduling, was newly-wedded, but gave up the opportunity to reunite with his family and stayed at the forefront of the construction in order to catch up the time limit.
       In the past 330 days and nights, trails of struggle and drops of sweat mixed into glories, and great efforts built Yuchai Speed. In the future, Yuchai will continue to stay in solidarity and forge ahead against the odds to compose a more magnificent chapter for Guangxis economic boom with intelligence and diligence.
