On the basis of achieving annual sales of over RMB 27 billion in 2009, Yuchai got off to a flying start with sales of over RMB 13 billion in the first four months of this year. The main reason for the continuous growth of Yuchai against the international financial crisis is that Yuchai actively transformed the development mode and improved the capacity for technical innovation to accomplish bend overtaking. For long, Yuchai has stuck to independent innovation, built corporate core competitiveness, established the corporate development strategy of green development, all win in harmony, kept to the road of green and industrial development with the objective of protecting ecology and constructing a benign industry chain, and deemed it its duty to provide cost-efficient green power and green machinery to be the controller of Chinese largest active pollution sources and the pioneer of Chinese green power.
To achieve the sustainable goal of green development, Yuchai centers on improving the capacity for independent innovation, intensifies technical innovation, and researches and develops low-emission, energy-conserving and material-conserving environment-friendly power; establishes the scientific incentive mechanism, innovates the project management system and builds an outstanding R & D talent team through vigorously constructing the talent highland; rebuilt Yuchai Institute of Engineering Research on the basis of the former national technical center and extensively carries out cooperation with upstream and downstream enterprises as well as domestic and overseas R & D institutions; intensifies R & D input and increases innovation level; and adheres to independent innovation to take off. In terms of green power R & D, Yuchai keeps ahead in the industry and maintains the lead in diesel engine emission control to synchronize Chinas engine industry with international engine R & D. In the recent decade, Yuchai has pioneered industrial development in national emission, especially after the implementation of National 3, 4 and 5 standards, shouldered the duty of the national industry and successfully resisted the attack of international engine giants. In terms of hybrid technology, Yuchai has kept ahead in fields such as petro-electricity hybrid and air hybrid. Yuchai had only 27 patents in 1998, but has increased the figure to over 400 in recent years. With the number of patents increasing by nearly 20 times in a decade, Yuchai has become an enterprise with the most authorized patents in the industry and Guangxi. Now, in the technical innovation of domestic automotive power system, Yuchai has taken the initiative in supporting homemade systems, advancing the concept of using electric pumps in medium & light-duty diesel engines, putting after-sale diagnostic units on the market, accomplishing autonomous calibration and advocating and promoting SCR technology of heavy-duty diesel engines.
Yuchai attaches great importance to independent innovation to accomplish two-digit fast growth for ten years in a row and grow by nearly 20 times in a decade.
