Yuchai committed to building fine heavy diesel engines

For long, Yuchai has enjoyed an overwhelming superiority in the medium-sized diesel engine market. Due to the robust demand of heavy truck and large bus markets in recent years, the heavy trend of the diesel engine market has become increasingly prominent. As Chinas largest internal combustion engine manufacturing base, Yuchai has been well prepared for the R & D and layout of heavy diesel engine products. The production and sales of Yuchais heavy diesel engines increased significantly in 2010, besides the factor of market demand, Yuchais great efforts in building fine heavy diesel engines also created the second major development opportunity for Yuchais heavy diesel engines.

Scheming

It has been eight years since the release of YC6M diesel engine in 2008. Over the years, Yuchai has been scheming elaborately in an attempt to develop the heavy diesel engine market in an all-round manner. In the previous scheme on heavy diesel engines, Yuchais YC6L diesel engine focused on lightweight road trucks, while YC6M diesel engine laid emphasis on heavy engineering tucks and semi-trailer tractors.

       On April 23, 2010, people saw YC6K heavy diesel engine elaborately developed by Yuchai at Auto China 2010. The model, with a displacement of 13L and a maximum power of 520hp, uses the prevailing new technology platform in Europe, is up to Euro V standard (upgradable to Euro VI), and is a highlight of fine heavy diesel engines of Yuchai. Now, the model has been used in Beijings buses and C&Cs semi-trailer tractors and concrete mixers. The release of the model marked the full entry of Yuchai into the heavy diesel engine market. Through eight years development and accumulation, Yuchais heavy diesel engines have been technically mature, and the spectral pattern of products has been unfolded completely. In the current layout of Yuchai heavy diesel engines, five series-6A, 6L, 6M, 6K and 6T covers power ranging from 150Ps to 600Ps to provide quality and strong power for products such as medium & light trucks, engineering trucks, mining trucks and ships.
       Apart from efforts in product performance, the energy-conserving and emission-reducing performance of Yuchais heavy diesel engines is also remarkable. On May 26, 2010, Yuchai was granted the China Road Transport Cup Best Parts Award by the Ministry of Transport for YC6L-50 National-5 diesel engine as the only prizewinner in the industry. As the pioneer of the technical route of environmental protection of diesel engines, Yuchai has mature and reliable technology of SCR (after-treatment) + electrically controlled high pressure common rail. On this June 12, the subject of Yuchai on the applicability of SCR technology to high-sulfur diesel was successfully accepted by the expert panel, providing sufficient technical reserves for full-series heavy diesel engines at the National-4 stage in the future.
        With the further intensification of efforts in building fine heavy diesel engines, the market popularity of Yuchais heavy diesel engines has been further enhanced. In the first half of this year, the production and sales of Yuchais heavy diesel engines increased enormously, of which models such as YC6M, YC6A and YC6L increased by 109%, 127% and 192% respectively year on year.

Attack

Against the background of mature product technology and complete product layout, from July 7 to 8, Yuchai held a conference on heavy diesel engine suppliers attended by representatives of 37 domestic parts enterprises in the headquarters, which discussed strategic cooperation and synchronous increases in products quality and service quality, kicking off the battle of comprehensively consolidating Yuchais heavy diesel engine market with the joint efforts of Yuchai and all parts suppliers.

        At the conference, Li Tiansheng, general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd., conveyed the confidence and resolution of building fine products and developing and consolidating the heavy diesel engine market to the suppliers, saying that Yuchai would further cement strategic cooperation with heavy diesel engine suppliers, increase the supporting share of quality parts suppliers and ensure the stability and controll ability of quality of heavy diesel engines.
       All parts suppliers closely assisted Yuchai in accomplishing the ambition of building fine products and expanding space in the heavy diesel engine market. Honeywell Shanghai, in partnership with Yuchai for over a decade, fully supported Yuchais plan of developing the heavy diesel engine market and will put to use a new production line in the fourth quarter of this year. Hainan Yuchai invested RMB 20 million in the capacity expansion and technical innovation of engine gears. Guilin Fuda Crankshaft Co., Ltd., which has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Yuchai recently, invested RMB 150 million in capacity expansion and technical innovation.
      In the meantime, Yuchais efforts in enhancing the product and technology quality and production capacity of heavy diesel engines will be unfolded successively. In the near future, Yuchai will consign research institutions like AVL to reevaluate and upgrade models like YC6M to build golden models in the heavy diesel engine market. In the second half of this year, three flexible processing lines will be added in the headquarters of Yuchai. Then, Yuchai, including Yuchai United Power Co., Ltd. in Wuhu, Anhui, will develop an annual production capacity of 230,000 heavy diesel engines.
        Yuchai was famous for quality services. To ensure the quality of market services, Yuchai will, on the basis of the existing service network, complete the construction of the service network in all inland provinces this year to become a diesel engine manufacturer with the widest service network at home. At the same time, in June, Yuchai carried out the month of diesel engine service aimed to further increase the service quality of Yuchais heavy diesel engines by investing over RMB 50 million in reserving heavy diesel engine fittings, sending staff of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. including the general manager and technical backbone to 19 provinces and municipalities to find out the use of products, grasp market information, promote the fast increase in service quality and boost the sales of Yuchais heavy diesel engines.
