The press conference for release of the Research Report on Chinas Top 500 Machinery Manufacturers and Global Top 500 Machinery Manufacturers was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 30. As a result, Yuchai Group was ranked 20th among Chinas top 500 machinery manufacturers, 353rd among global top 500 machinery manufacturers ad 1st among Guangxis machinery manufacturers.

This event was organized by the China Machinery Enterprise Management Association (CMEMA) and jointly undertaken by the Research Institute of Machinery Industry Economic Management and World Executive Group. Leaders such as He Guangyuan, member of the Standing Committee of the 9th CPPCC and former Minister of Machine Building; Sun Zumei, honorary chairman of CMEMA; Xin Renzhou, deputy director of the Department of Industry Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; and Sun Bohuai, vice chairman of the China Machinery Industry Association and chairman of CMEMA were present.

The release of the Research Report on Chinas Top 500 Machinery Manufacturers in 2010 was the 8th edition since the debut in 2003. Chinas unbalance in economic development determines regional unbalance in the development of Chinas machinery industry. Apart from Tibet and Guizhou, machinery enterprises in 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities were ranked among top 500. Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Shandong contributed the most, a total of 254 enterprises were in South China, accounting for 50.80% of the top 500, including 74 from Zhejiang, 70 from Jiangsu, 41 from Shanghai and 36 from Shandong. According to a survey by the World Company Lab, the total sales income and profit of Chinas Top 500 Machinery Manufacturers were RMB 4.562258 trillion and RMB 334.543 billion, up 15.21% and 16.35% from the previous year respectively. Thus, Chinas machinery industry has maintained steady economic growth and been superior to the previous year whether in total sales income or total profit after the global financial crisis. Notably, 11 of the top 20 enterprises and 21 of the top 50 were from the automobile industry. Despite a slight fall in the number of automakers among the top 500 enterprises caused by the global financial crisis, the auto industry has remained high in the contribution to the machinery industry and national economy.

The report has shown that Yuchai was ranked 30th among Chinas top 500 machinery manufacturers with a sales income of RMB 271.9731 billion, but according to the results of a comprehensive ranking by data such as sales income, total profit, return on assets and growth rate as well as factors such as industry difference and prestige index according to CVA designed on the basis of international practice, Yuchai was ranked 20th with a score of 95.7655, a place up from the 21st in 2009. Also, the report has shown that the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau were ranked 34th with a total of 77 enterprises listed among the global top 500 machinery manufacturers, and Yuchai was ranked 353rd. Among Chinas top 100 machinery brands, Yuchai was ranked 30th.
