On the afternoon of August 3, He Faxian, director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Peoples Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, headed a surveying & steering group to Yuchai to survey and steer the excellence contention campaign. Leaders such as Zhang Jiasha, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Yuchai Group; He Xiaoyu, director of the Publicity Department of Yuchai Group; and Zhou Jinliang, deputy secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. reported Yuchais excellence contention campaign.

According to the reports, Yuchai centered on aspects such as scientific corporate management, Party building mechanism innovation, talent team building and livelihood building to solidly and effectively carry out the excellence contention campaign. Yuchai advanced the implementation of the strategy of invigorating Yuchai through prospering Yulin and the Twelfth Five-Year Plan of Yuchai Group by organizing Party members to base themselves on posts, gave full play to the fort role of Party organizations and the pioneer and model role of Party members during production management, and constantly enhanced production efficiency and product competitiveness, to advance the scientific and leapfrog development of the enterprise; worked out and implemented Party building systems such as the Plan for Implementation of Yuchais Excellence Contention Campaign and Yuchais System for Achievement Assessment Management, improved the Partys mechanism building, promoted the development of Party building work, and created a favorable mechanism environment for Party members to contend to be pioneers and models, to give better play to the progressiveness of Party organizations and Party members; implemented the corporate strategy of invigorating enterprises through talents, advanced the work of building high-caliber cadre teams, high-performance management teams and creative labor groups, and paid close attention to all-staff corporate culture edification and skill quality training, to build a talent advantage for the enterprise and promote the sustainable development of the enterprise; proactively did good and substantive work for staff, helped staff out of difficulty, and coordinated to solve the hot, difficult and focus problems concerned by staff such as staff children education, medical care of staff, labor employment and aid to needy staff, to create a favorable working and living environment, promote the harmony and stability of the enterprise and arouse the enthusiasm and creativity of staff. During the campaign, tangible carriers such as creation of Party member pioneer posts and Party member model posts in innovation and benefit making and holding of the model symposium were carried out to motivate Party members to learn from model staff and contend to be outstanding Party members.

Yuchais excellence contention campaign has achieved remarkable results. From this January to June, Yuchai maintained fast growth with a sales income of RMB 19.756 billion and sales of 433,500 diesel engines, up 52.64% and 19.24% year on year respectively. In 2009, five Party members were ranked among municipal, autonomous region and national model workers, the Party committee was ranked among the advanced grass-roots Party organizations of Yulin and Guangxi; many Party members won awards in autonomous region and national occupational skill contests, the company claimed titles such as National Learning Enterprises, the fifth edition of Chinas Top 100 Advanced Units in Enterprise Education, the fifth edition of Chinese Demonstrative Bases in Enterprise Training, the fifth edition of Chinese Outstanding Achievements in Enterprise Education Training and National Advanced Units in Enterprise Staff Education Training. In terms of livelihood building, Yuchai advanced the building of many livelihood projects such as cultural center, sports facilities, canteen, laundry, bathroom, health center, medical kit and water diversion to living quarters, thus further increasing the living standards of staff.

Following the reports, He was satisfied with and spoke highly of the campaign. He said that Yuchai was highly aware of the significance of the campaign, kept pace with the Party Central Committee and reacted fast, and that the campaign was clear in ideas, rich in carriers, characteristic of Yuchai and effective, which promoted the further development and improvement of Party building work, boosted the enterprises business profit and made a great contribution to local economic development. He hoped that Yuchai would further advance the campaign, effectively arouse the enthusiasm of Party members to ensure the accomplishment of the annual objectives, and further sum up experience and intensify publicity to guide more enterprises in carrying out the campaign.
