In early July, 2010, Jinchang didnt reveal illusionary but unusually cool after the rain. Just in that early morning, we, together with Service Manager in Office of Yuchai Machinery in Gansu province, paid a visit to a sand washing machine plant located in the suburb of Yongdeng County, Lanzhou (the capital of Gansu province). Guided by the director of this plant, we visited the dredging site and found a ZL50C-typed loading machine (made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd.) was in operation. After dredging and loading for twice, the car hopper of the sand loader was full-loaded.

This machine has been in service for over two years, and we just paid for its purchasing cost and the proper follow-up maintenance. the direct pointed at the loader and said. Over interviewing, the director told us that his surname was Yang, and people called him Big Yang, but actually he was around 32 years old, and his younger brother was just 30. During our conversation, the loading machine came over and stopped by the river. Big Yangs younger brother came out of the driving cab. When advised that the journalist would know something about this machines engine, he became talkative: The engine is so reliable that it has not been overhauled after service for nearly three years. Besides, it is highly fuel-efficient. The machinery of other brands that we have rented in 2009 consumes the fuel 80 Yuan/day more than this machine does. So we insisted on Yuchai YC6M engines when we decided to buy new equipment at the beginning of this year. And we have waited for this engine for two more months! undoubtedly, 6M engines are the favorite of Big Yang and his younger brother. The reason is simple: its durability and fuel-efficiency.

Out next stop was the construction site in Zhongchuan Town, Lanzhou for a state strategic reserves storage. Because this construction was nearly completed, only two digging machine and one loading machine were used on the site for the final leveling and cleaning. It was said that almost 500 equipment and vehicle worked together at the peak time of construction.

The target of the journey is the 855-typed loading machine (made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd.) is its owner-Mr. Jia Hui. In fact, his pressure doesnt lie in the elimination, but in nearly RMB 0.2 million Yuan of loans. The machine is on loan, and I have pay off 4000yuan/month. For us farmers, no operation of machinery is bound to result in our insolvency. For the sake of this pressure, Jia spent almost 20 hours/day on the site during the whole process in 2009, and got a bit of relief after he paid RMB 0.15 million Yuan of construction payment in half a year for the loans by the end of that year.

Over the whole interview, Jia, who is a poor talker, fully expressed his satisfaction towards his own machine, for the reason that his machine is not only the only zero-failure loader on the site, but also the highly fuel-efficient loading machine. Through my calculation at the end of the year, I find that after machine-shift cost is deducted, this machine saves nearly RMB 3,000 Yuan/month of fuel, compared with the machine of other brands.

Upon the finishing of interview, Jia told that now, he had paid off all bank loans, and already contracted part of earthwork for another project. On arrival at Leijin Company, we found that the company occupied a small area, but had scientific layout, which reflected its brightness. Mr. Hu Haibin, Manager of Sales Department of Leijin Company, and Mr. Zhao Chuancheng, Management of After-sales Service Department, had accepted our interview and visit. Hu had been serving in the company for nearly 5 years, so he had thorough understanding of loading machine made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd., matching facilities for engines made by Yuchai Machinery, and buying habits of users in Qinghai province. When we met him, a robust and handsome man, in his office, he wore fashionable leisure clothes. If we dont know his name, we cant associate him with a Tibetan. However, it is this fashionable Tibetan man who had become the primary major individual user of loading machine Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd. in Qinghai, and also the most faithful customer of Yuchai machinery.

Duo Ji run a coal transfer center. Among his all equipment, all 17 loaders are made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd., in which, 12 new facilities bought later than year 2005 are all equipped with YC6M engine. He told that his acquaintance with Yuchai Machinery derived from a dispute 6 years ago: he discovered the water leakage at the joint between cylinder cover and cylinder body of the engine on a loading machine made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd. which he had bought and operated it for less than 100 hours, and then he decidedly asked the agent for the replacement of the whole set, but the agent answered back that the whole set couldnt be replaced if the defect was not related to the machine structure. They told that the failure could be completely removed through the replacement. But Duo Ji resolved to reject the replacement, and in the end, the staff had no choice but to report to the head office, and the leaders made a quick response that the machine was to be replaced to retain the user.

The initiative the Yuchai staff, plus leaders decisiveness and generosity dissolved the conflict. It is because this dispute that Duo Ji perceived the sincerity of Yuchai Machinery which seized a loyal customers.

In Qinghai, there are not a great number of major customer like Duo Ji, but here is laden with faithful customers like him. Loyalty is the ethnic nature of Tibetans who will hardly change the attitudes towards somebody or something that they trust.(To be continued)
