Yuchai National V engines into market in volume

Golden October is a season of harvest. On October 26, the domestic first batch of 50 new buses with National V engines independently developed by Yuchai went into operation at Beijing Bafangda Public Transport Tongzhou Co., Ltd. These are 50 Ankai HFC6121 buses of the 100 new National V ones purchased by Bafangda through bid in late 2009, marking that the National V engines independently developed by Yuchai have gone on the market. At the stage when most engine manufacturers are still prepared to release National IV products, Yuchai took the lead to release National V engines in volume, arousing a strong response in the society and boosting the green power market for the current commercial vehicle industry.

For long, engine has been a strategic area for China to participate in international industrial competition. As some domestic enterprises keep to the route of "exchanging technology for market", Chinese engine manufacturers were at one time led by the nose by foreign competitors in core technology. In engine emission control standards, at the call of the strategy of Green Beijing and Green Olympics, Beijing Public Transport (BPT) tightened the control of new bus emission standards. From National II, III to IV, import engines were used in volume first. For example, 200 new National IV buses with import engines were put to use first in 2006. BPT's rigorous emission standards kept homemade engines out as a threat to domestic engine manufacturers.

Since 2006, with the business concept of "Green Development & Harmony Win-win", Yuchai has increased input into technical development, endeavored to increase the technical level of engines, took the road of independent innovation, and made great efforts to building energy-conserving and environment-friendly "green power" products. Yuchai's social responsibility and industry opportunities and challenges require Yuchai to stick to independent innovation, break international technical monopolization, follow international emission standards and develop energy-conserving and environment-friendly "green power". To fulfill the social responsibility of energy conservation and emission reduction, and develop the "green power" market, Yuchai's leading body attaches great importance to Beijing's bus market. President Yan Ping paid frequent visits to BPT's executive level, required that Yuchai's technical team should, with BPT's upgraded emission standard as benchmark, keep innovating and upgrading engine emission standards to supply leading and applicable green power products to Beijing's bus market.

Efforts paid off finally. Since Yuchai became the only homemade engine supplier for new buses purchased by BPT in 2006, the cooperation between Yuchai and BPT has been better and closer. Since 2007, BPT has successively purchased more than 3,000 Yuchai National IV engines, developing an overwhelming superiority over import engines. More encouragingly, in the first bid for National V new buses in late 2009, BTP chose Yuchai engines again, which is a high recognition of the green power independently developed by the national industry, implies the narrowing of the technical gap between the domestic engine industry and the industry in European & American developed countries, and substantially promotes the industry to increase the capacity for technical innovation and raise emission control standards.

The volume release of Yuchai National V engines highly reflects Yuchai's green strategy, shows the green desire of Yuchai's staff to unremittingly improve engine emission technology, and embodies Yuchai's resolution to actively respond to the national call of energy conservation and emission reduction.
